I save pennies, not nickles, not dimes, not quaters just pennies. I love pennies, you can find them most anywhere, just laying there waiting to be picked up and given a home! If my purchase is 2.01 i give the cashier 2.05 so i can get 4 pennies to drop into my penny jar. You would be surprised at how much money you can save with just lonely little pennies. My big green wine jug is full now, so i worked it out by weight and i have about 50.00 in it.Now i get to put that into a christmas popcorn can and then i can start over by giving one lonley little penny a home. Do you save change? before i had my two youngest kids i saved all my change it added up a lot more quickly but with 2 children wanting money for this and that I decided to just keep pennies because nobody wants them but me! Tell me about the kind of change you save.

yes i keep change but if u are around i don't to keep my pennies. but that is ok b/c u give me ur other change. i keep the change in a piggy bank for my kids and after it is full we go and take the boys to do something fun. if i see a coin laying in the street i will let one of the boys pick it up or i will and we will put it in their bank when we get home.

I save low value coins too. I have a small bag I drop them into and I will change them up when it is full. I often see coins in the street and pick them up. I don't save silver coins, I put them in my pocket and use them for small purchases.

Good for you, so many people dont even consider the penny, but as you well know, they can add up. I generally dont save my change, but rather I use it in the vending machines at work.

Your going to have a fit! When I would be sweeping or cleaning out the car and came across a lone penny, I would just chunk in the trash. I KNOW, I KNOW! How could I. One day along time ago, I received an e-mail from someone (It might have even been you) I don't really remember how the story goes but I'll put in the words that are the impression I have now. This person was going thru a hard time in their life and I guess they lost hope or something, anyway they were walking along, saw a penny, picked it up and right away saw where it says 'In God We Trust' and they saw it as a promise from God or something. He was telling them to trust Him. Now, whenever I see a penny laying in a parking lot or anywhere, I take the time to pick it up and slip it in my pocket. I have a jug I save pennies in too, have for years. When I clean out my purse I always keep four pennies and put the rest in my jug. I couldn't just chunk a penny out now, I would feel like I was throwing Gods promise in the trash.

It wasn't me, but it is a beautiful story and i never thought of a penny quite that way. I am glad to hear you changed your BAD, BAD, BAD habit! There has just always been something special about a penny to me. I think because it has always been viewed as a useless castout that nobody wanted.

It's good luck to pick up a penny that's head-up. =] I always pocket head-up pennies. But.... I have no clue where they go.

Drop them in a bank and after awhile you will have enough to buy yourself a cd.
