Do you think it's ok to speed in your car?

Just wondered how many out there speed in their cars and do you think it's okay to do so? Is there certain areas such as around schools or built up areas that you wouldn't speed in? Do you think it's okay to speed on the motorway? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I don't drive but as a passenger, I see a lot of dangerous driving both in the country lanes and on the motorway.
No... I don't think it's ok to speed in any area. On the motorway, you have to be very alert of what's going on ahead, as people cut in and out of lanes, without indicating, so always better to stick to the speed limit.
In built-up areas also, you have to be very alert as any time, a child can run into the road from behind a parked car... you need time to stop! For schools, I feel the same way, and for country lanes, I get really frustrated, as the lanes are really narrow, and there's always one speed merchant who thinks he has the lane to himself. Hardly ever so, my friend, and if a car comes speeding around a corner for you, you have nowhere to go, but in the ditch, or the woods!
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xx

YEah...its OK..i think to speed to because of the hurried time which people may able to catch as the time runs fast...that's why everybody's need to speed up in a highway...especially if you go to a distance place in a hurry just like having an emergency tasks...BUT off course you can slow down also if you want just be sure that car next to you is not that lil' bit in a hurry... so that he/she will not get to argue with you..by your normal speed and i think everybody is just speed up in normal but it depends on the cars features that runs fast even if it's in normal speed though##...JUST be patient*

Thanks for you're comment, I hope you take care around built up areas where children may run into the road. Not sure how contented you would feel if you ran one over! Be safe.

Guys. I am sorry to say this. But I have to be serious about this. Speeding is never okay or safe at all. You will get a ticket for this. You can also get a ticket for running a red light as well as driving the wrong way on one-way street. You can also get ticketed for driving left side (which is oncoming lane) or on center of road/street. In New York State, if your driving record has 11 or more points, your driver license will be suspended. If you do not take care of a ticket at all by the date and time, your license is suspended until you at least pay the ticket as well suspension termination fee. Yeah, as you get tickets for violations, your auto insurance is affected. You can look all that up at www.nysdmv.com. Let me know what you think.

I think we should always drive the speed limit..I do not speed..We have a subdivision near my house,if you go through this subdivison you can get where you want to go faster because it is a short cut, however it is considered a speed trap through there...I go through there all of the time and i do not get ticketd because i uphold the speed limit..I see cars getting stopped and ticketed all the time for speeding, and theey just never learn...

Nope. It is never okay and safe to speed at all. At motor speedways in a tournament or whatever, it is okay. But on any road, it is never safe to speed. You will get ticketed. That will be on your driving record. That will affect your insurance definitely. Also running a red light and driving a wrong way on one-way street is illegal; it's a ticket. In New York State, the law is that if you get 11 or more points within the 18-month period, your driver license will be suspended. If you do not answer your ticket at all be the certain date and time, your license is suspended until the ticket is at least taken care off and suspension termination fee is paid for. You can look all that up at www.nysdmv.com

Thanks for your information. It will be useful of those who live in New York. In the UK we have a similar points system. If you have held your licence for less than two years and get more than 6 points (I think) then you have to re-take your test. After that your points stay on your licence for six years, during this time if your points tot up to twelve then you get banned for a minimum of twelve months.
