Do you talk/listen on your cell phone while you drive? Do you think it is safe?

I usually either pull over and stop somewhere like in a parking lot, if I can, or I just wait and call back whoever called me. If I'm at a stoplight, I can answer, but you're right, I don't believe it's safe, and in many places it's illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving. I have seen things that are much more dangerous while driving, like looking in the rear view mirror to apply makeup while driving down a busy highway, or reading a map, and only glancing up for a second.

Hi Karen! You are right....people do all sorts of things while driving. People should just have common sense.

I don't have a cell phone, but I have definite opinions. My sister and father, from my observations, can drive while talking on the cell phone, and pay attention to everything else around them (mostly, although we never concentrate as well unless we are off the phone), while my mother is, well, let's just say she is forbidden to use her phone while she is driving. My dad begged her not to, and my sister and I when we are with her, make sure she doesn't try to use it. That sounds extreme, but I can't even tell you how much trouble she has almost got into because of her cell phone while driving.

My mom has a health condition, and awhile back she was simply driving, and she hit a car from behind. She has no idea how it happened, she wasn't even on the cell phone. When I'm with her I won't even let her change the radio station. It sounds like we're bossy, but my mom agrees with us. When she reaches for the radio buttons she veers off the road. Add a cell phone and we have a disaster.

Amber, I don't have one, either. Why is your dad and *your sister* of all people allow to talk on the cell phone while driving but your mother is not. Film at 11?

With all the stuff going on on the road, I think cell phones are a distraction. It has been show in some studies, that cell phones lead to accidents. I think it would be better and safer if we all shut up and drive.

I don't use my cellphone when I'm driving. I can't concentrate. So if anyone ever calls while I'm driving, I would ask them to call back later, or if it's really important, i would stop and park at the side for a few minutes to take the call.

Listening music and driving is a common practice, but while talking on a cellphone and driving may be hazardous as it demands more attention from the traffic to the person I am talking to.

I don't do much driving now, but the time I was driving, I always had my cell phone on silent mode and never answered any calls.
I don't think its safe do drive while talking on the cellphone, it ruins concentration on the roads and could cause accidents along the way. its just too irresponsible to keep talking on your cellphone while driving.
