Is feminism detrimental to women's rights?

Feminism is a cause that is supposed to promote women's rights. But often feminists use women's rights as a means to further their own political cause. In other words issues affecting women become a tool to promote an ambitious political person as opposed to resolving the issues in a way that helps women. What do you think?

I think that's a very generalised speculation, considering how many different kinds of feminism there are and that it means different things to different people. Perhaps some people have a hidden agenda, but that's by no means limited to feminists and you can't ignore the need for feminism still existing and the leaps and bounds that have been made so far as women's rights are concerned.

But at least we are no longer forced to be housewives, we now have a choice.
I have stopped watching TV due to he stereotying media does so the media doesn't effect me, and if someone tries to force me to conform to a house wife role, well, needless to say they got another thing coming!

'personal is political' as a famous feminist quote goes.
i guess i don't necessarily find anything wrong with a politician using belief in feminism in trying to move forward in his/her career as long as they really do something to promote the basic faminist idea of equality between the sexes. it would be like blacks using being black to pursue their own personal goals...
it would deeply depend at the circumstances i think.
