It is official. National Novel Writing Month is has launched it's 2006 competition. Has anyone started writing yet? I stay up to start at midnight PST last evening. I got about 500 words done...I know it isn't much, but I am getting ready to start working as soon as I finish this post. How many words do you have so far? Chris Baty, the founder of NANOWRIMO, recommends that one work fervously during week one, because your momentum will slow as the month progresses. Want more info on Nanowrimo...go to www.nanowrimo.org Let me know how many words you get today.

I'm doing it, but in a more.. unofficial way. I'm not going for word count, because that discourages me and creates forced passages. Instead I made a promise to myself (and the 10 or so people reading it as I post it on my xanga) that I'm going to write SOMETHING every day. Even if it's just a sentence. I always have trouble finishing what I start, so if I can keep at it until the end of the month, I'm going to be so proud of myself!

That is terrific. I would love to know what your xanga site is. I too am on xanga, under sydneysilence. I know what you mean, I too have trouble finishing. Best of luck. If you need any encouragement, I'm here.

I started, got 1800 words in, decided I hated the story and now I'm scrapping it. I have another idea and I'm frantically trying to get at least the broad problems hammered out so I restart as soon as possible.

Creativity - A positive affirmation on why we struggle to be creative.
Don't give up all together. Just concentrate on writing and going with the new idea, you can hammer out any major problems later. I started over before too. You can do it!How many words did you get up to today?

I'm sorry I didn't get around to responding before now. I started a new idea and now I'm up to 12,000 words.
