latest news about Monalisa's painting says that the dress she is wearing is the dress wored by the pregnent or newly became mothers in those days. So I think bcoz of her child's arrival she is happy and as she is standing in front of a painter so she is trying hide her happiness by smiling very inwardly.

what i have read about mona lisa is that half of the side of the face is of men and half is women and the smile is a sly smile.
