is there anybody here who loves photography?
my husband and i loves it so much but we're still a newbie so we dont know much about it.
he have a canon EOS 30D and i have Canon Powershot G5 and so far they are pretty good but there are still limitations coz they are not the professional ones. i have heard before that you dont have to be a professional photographer nor to have a professional camera to have a great photo so i am wondering if any out here have techniques and some points that you want to share.
i saw a very good photo online and the camera used is the Canon 3D and the 1D Mark III so my hubby checked their prices and to have the 1D (12K just the cam) with the lens he wants is way too expensive almost 30K (imagine 30K you can buy a new car) and the 3D (7k just the cam) is almost 20K with lens as well.
we cannot afford that and if we can i still dont think that is a wise move for us coz such amount is too much except of course if you are a millionaire.
anyway, i would love to know much about your own experience coz to me it is best that way than just plain reading.
i know i can read online and read the manual or do a search but i feel based on the past that id rather hear someone telling it from their experience.
looking forward to hear from you and i appreciate it a lot.
takecare!

Your husband's 30D iis a semi-pro model; Rahar143 is using an entry level camera DSLR (the Nikon D40) and he sees himself as a photographer: quite rightly. It isn't the camera so much as your attiitude that counts.
The difference between semi pro and pro outfits is not the image quality or the features so much as the build quality: pro systems have better dust and weather seals, a more robust shutter etc. Your Powershot is also a very good camera, capable of excellent shots in difficult situations. You both have all the photographic "fire power" you need to capture wonderful images and make great pictures.
Those high priced Canons you mentioned are full-frame sensor models (I think you meant 5D, not 3D, although Nikon make a full frame with the model number 3, so it could be that). The big thing about them is the size of the sensor they use, which is as large as a 35mm film frame. In other respects, you cameras (especially hubby's) is not inferior to them...in fact, you can capture more frames per second in burst mode, and can get in closer with the same lens than they can, making yours better for sports and wildlife. If you really want expensive cameras, look at medium format digitals at $US50,000 without a lens!
