Would you be upset if your 15 year old came home with facial tats and piercings like those depicted in this photo? I was sickened when I saw this the first time; wondering how someone could mark themselves for life in such a drastic and dark way. I then thought of the kid's parents and what their reaction was.

I have to say that I have tats and piercings myself but not on my face, although I do have my tongue pierced. I wouldnt mind if any of my kids came home with a piercing or a tat, as long as it wasnt a tat on their face!! I would rather my kids came to me and told me that they wanted to do something like that so that I could go with them and make sure that the tat artist was a reputable one.. :-)

I personally like tats and piercings but I would freak if my son came home with tatoos and piercings like the young man in the photo. It just made me sick that he did that to himself. I don't think there is anyway he could reverse it if he chose to later on with the exception of getting a head transplant.

First off are you sure thats a facial tat? Cause it looks like very possibly airbrushingn to me..and secondly my kids wouldnt DARE do something like that...the piercing I wouldnt care about but a face tat like that (or any face tat) would SERIOUSLY set me off...AND I'd go after the tattooist too since its illegal! MIND YOU I have told my son that when he turns 15 this yr he can start getting his piercings and when he turns 16 I'll take him for his first tattoo (and pay for it LOL)

In order for a 15 year old to get a tatoo, their parents have to sign for it. It's illegal for a tatoo person (not sure what they are called) to give a tatoo to anyone under the age of 18. I believe it's the same for piercings as well. But if any of my children came home looking like that, they would feel like that. That is ridiculous for anyone, let alone a child, to do something like that.

I generally say that I would support my children's choices...but I don't think I could deal well with something like that. They can dye their hair purple, wear false piercings and outlandish make up but permanant things like this would be a problem. I think after the shock and horror of it, I would be very disappointed. Not disappointed in them as a person so much as disappointed that they fely something that drastic was the only outlet they had to show who they felt they were.

Oh...and my oldest biological child is 12 so I haven't actually reached the purple hair stage...the stepson dyed his a bright orangish red once and I told him he'd look better with it black. He's since gone back to his natural blond and hasn't tried black yet...although he did try purple streaks only it came out looking more pink than purple. LOL

That photo is scary and I would not approve of my child doing anything like this. I don't think that kids should be allowed to get tattoos until the age of 21 without permission and I know I would never let my child do this. They think that they look cool and all but who will hire these people when they need a job and what will they think of themselves in 10 years?

If my kid came home with his face like that, I would probably laugh with shock at first because that is how I react to things. I would be angry and upset, but there would not be a lot I could do about it once it had been done so I would just have to get used to it. I guess though ultimately it would be him that has to deal with the way people look and treat at him and also deal with the rejection that would come with having things like that done to his face.

Where do you think he could get a job?

oh im not yet a parent but if ever i will have kids in the future, i certainly would do everything in my power for him not to turn out that way. and besides, he couldnt get that "look" in one sitting anyway, so when he starts to exhibit the "signs" that he wants to tranform his face, it gradually starts with tattoes and earrings increasingly being put on his body anyway so i'd make him stop or talk him out of it but if that doesnt work, well, then there's nothing i can do about it. after all, its his body, not mine, and all i can do is guide him towards doing the right or conventional thing.

Well, some people see it as art or a way to express themselves. I would be a little peeved but in some countries, it's against the law to have certain things done before a certain age so that's not really something we have to worry about. I know tattoos are over 18 & i believe some certain piercings are as well. I guess you'd need a lot of money for something like that so for a 15 year old to do it, they'd have to be loaded with cash or the parents have paid for it which means they wouldn't mind too much i guess. I'm ok with piercings, but too many just looks a bit off sometimes, depends on the person & the piercing too!

That's way extreme, lol. That picture kind of weirded me out a bit. If I had a kid who came home like that, I don't know what I'd do. I'll explain to them that sometimes something so permanent isn't always a good thing. And I'll ask them how they'll expect to get a job looking like that. Very few people are going to consider them for a position, that's just the way life is. And what about when their forty? They'll have a lot of mixed feelings in the future.

I would not be quite as bothered about piercings, they can be removed, but tattoos are for life and I don't think anyone regardless of their age should get tattoos on their face it minimises the places they can get into, their job prospects and how people view them.

I think it is sad for anyone to want to disfigure themselves so much. I understand wanting a bit of attention, but to do something so drastic and so permanent seems to me to be a cry for help. If my child came home looking like that, I'd be looking for the reason behind it.

To be completely honest, i love tattoos AND piercings. BUT, you also have to keep in mind that everyone thinks of their body in a different way. as much as i love tattoos and piercings, i would never get a tattoo for "the hell of it" i get tattoos that are meaningful to ME, not others, and im not planning on getting ANY tattoos on my face, i thin that theres a line, and i believ that as beautiful as tattoos can be natural beauty is more important. i have quite a few friends with many facial piercings, although i would never get them, its not my decision although i would say that if my child came home when they were 15 with massive amounts of tattoos/piercing on their face-- i would be very upset and not happy at all. i believe that you should think about what you do to your body and not put it out on a whimb. i think that although you may love the art of the body modification, if your 15, with piercings and tattoos, its not gonna be very simple for you to get a job and start your life, and if i was a parent, i probably would not be able to support them there whole life.

I would have to ask what incompetent artist decided that he or she would do this to a 15 year old. No decent artist would even touch a 15 year old especially if there was no parent permission. Even then a decent artist wouldn't touch some one until they were at least 18 years of age. I myself have no kids but i have seriously thought about getting into the profession of tattooing and/or piercings. Also being that i have a few tattoos myself i understand that its going to be stuck there permanently which is something these children, don't always thing about and will probably regret later in life. Another thing is they don't realize that this might inhibit their chances of getting a job. One look at them and they could be turned away simply because it looks trashy. Normally anything upon the face, neck, above the collar bone or even below the elbow is considered trashy and make3s it a lot harder for jobs. Anyways thats my little rant thanks for listening.

That would upset me really if I see my kids do such a thing. Art that's gone too far. It doesnt look nice anymore but it just ruins the body, I would say.

i'd be wanting to know how a 15 year old got tattooed-that looks like a professional job.um..even though i have tat's i wouldn't be thrilled..but it's already done, and they're the one that has to live with it.

Yes, I would be furious. I would be out for the person that did this to my child! Kids will want to do crazy things that no doubt they will later regret. That is why they have parents and why they need parental permission to do some of these things. Legally you can't even get a tatoo where I live...with or without parent's permission. Body piercings can not be done under the age of 16 and then only with parent's written approval. If for whatever reason as a parent, i agreed to this...I would take my child into a proffessional to have it done. Obviously this was done by someone illegal and unprofessional. Oh...and there is absolutely no way i'd agree to this. My daughter wanted her tongue pierced and she had to wait till she was 18.

Piercings aren't too big of a deal to me, except for those ones where the people have those massive holes in their ears.. they keep stretching them out bigger and bigger until their lobes are huge. I don't get that. And that takes reconstructive surgery to fix. Other piercings tend to heal up on their own if left alone. From what I understand, it is hard to find tattoo artists that will willingly work on certain areas of the body, the face and head being some of them. And for a 15 year old to get them? Wow! That would be against the law here if not done with parental consent. As a parent, there is no way I would consent to any body tattoos on a 15 yr old. I would tell them that when they were 18, they could do as they wished, and then would suggest that once they figured out what they wanted, after a full year has passed, and if they STILL want that same work done, then to go for it. But those facial tattoos.... EEEEWWWW!!!! That is awful.

working - working table
i think it was all in the upbringing of the kid and his surroundings may also affect his thinking.if he has friends who are like that also chances are he will be like them also in the future,as the saying goes "tell me who your friends are and i will tell you who you are" if parents could only put in their kids minds what they wanted for them in the future im sure it will be fulfilled....
