For Moms: What do you want for Mother's Day?

This one is for you moms! I'm not starting this one to ask what your ultimate gift idea is but what kind of gift has the most meaning to you? Is it a handmade card from the kids? A flower or bouquet picked by one or all of your children from your garden? The family pitching in to make breakfast for you? Breakfast served in bed? What do you really appreciate in the way of a gift for mother's day?

I'm a very simple person, all I want from my kids is a kiss, hug, and telling me Happy Mother's Day. I love homemade cards, I have kept everything my kids have made for me. I keep everything that they do, and have 3 boxes of papers, art work. They will hate me if anything happens to me. Also letting me sleep in would be really nice. So we will see what they do for me.

My daughter has been off work since the end of Feb., because of extra curricular activities at school. She's in grade eleven, and is returning to work next week. She won't have the money to get me anything, but is planning to cook dinner for me, which will be a real treat. She loves to cook, and is actually quite good at it, as she's taking this at school. Beyond this, I don't know if she's going to make me anything, or come up with any additional ideas. Since she's become so busy of late, just spending some time with her that day, will be gift enough for me.

Well i'll summarize what happenes for me every year, now its different sometimes so bear with me. I always get awoken by my loving husband Gary with breakfast in bed, now sometimes that can even be cereal. I don't care for anything too fancy. I will then be greeted by my son (3yr old) with a finger painting or something he made with daddy. After I review it and tell him what a good job he did, they both tell me they love me. Then throughout the day my husband will pass me love notes and whisper he loves me from time to time. My son will sometimes come up and just hug me throughout the day. At lunchtime we always have the same thing, heart shaped grillled ham and cheese sandwiches. Then we always go to the dollar theatre and see a family movie, and afterwards go to the park until about 7pm. After going home and cleaning up from the park we go out for dinner, and when I say go out I don't mean to a resturant. My husband prepares a picnic,(of course of food he didn't make) then we go to the park around the corner thats always got lights on. We eat our dinner with candles and some incense because it helps ward of misquitos, and just talk about how far we've come. Now I mentioned sometimes it differs, that means sometimes the breakfast gets spilled all over me, or possibly the lunch is burned, or maybe my son hugs me to hard and I fall over, or even being eaten alive by bugs at the park dinner. No matter what happens every year i'm always happy with what it is, because I love my family and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. Really mothers day isnt about mothers to me, its about family. And thats how it should be, not a day where everyone does everythign for you because you do everything for them, but a day where you realize how much you do for each other. That's my mothers day.

I think I have already grown up. I don't expect any specific material gifts as I have enough already. All I want is my mom will have a happy Mother's Day and my child will grow up happily and healthily. That's already good enough gifts for me. I love China

All I want for Mother's Day is my family's greetings, hugs and kisses. We can go out to watch a movie, have a nice dinner, and spend some quality time. I'd like my daughter to serve me a breakfast in bed, but I think I have to wait a few more years when she can carry a heavy tray full of breakfast goodies.

I love anything my kids make. As for my husband, I do not want to have to cook or lift a finger on Mothers day. Flowers would be nice too, but just having a day off would be the best.

I don't ask for anything for Mother's Day; I would be happy to not get another coffee maker ... I finally got them weaned off of getting my one for Christmas and still have four or five of them in the closet from previous holidays.

I agree, appliances aren't the best choices for mother's day unless you specifically ask for it! Hope you have a wonderful day--and weekend!

I actually am not big on these types of holidays. If my girls didn't do anything, I'd seriously be ok with that. In fact there have been times when a couple of them were in the "hate mom" mode and did do nothing. I may be weird but what matters to me is how we are on a daily basis. I will tell you that I don't like it at all when they have gone all out because I know they can't afford it. I do love and save the handmade cards and little notes. My oldest is a mom herself. This year we are all getting together and going out to breakfast together and just enjoy getting together. I'm looking forward to it. My grandson and I did make my daughter an incence burner together and we'll give her that. simple is good.

Well, my older kids usually make me something at school. They are still at their dad's for about two more weeks though. My youngest is 2 years old. She doesn't have a clue about Mother's Day yet. But, when my husband asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day I told him not to buy me anything. I want him to make me something with the baby. She is at a stage where she can help with simple things. He is pretty creative so this should be interesting. He said that he already has ideas.

Since i have 5 children and usually get flowers and cards..i always ask for them to just do a great mow and edge job on the lawn and then we have a BBQ afterwards..this year one Son will be with his dad, one Son will take his wife and new son (9 months) to the beach since its her first mama's day..so since they would be missing and the Son thats with his father won't be able to see me till fathers day we are reversing the holiday..I'm the fathers day this year and their father is the mother..LOL..then we will get my lawn done..!

I live far away my family and my mom.My mom won't allow me to send her gift as EMS charge so much. I guess the best I can offer for mom is to call her often, take care of myself and spare mom from worries about me.I miss mom and hope all mom in the world be happy.
