Walmart needs to hire more people!

Every single time I go to their store, there aren't enough people working at the registers. Only about 2 or 3 lanes are open. They are trying to encourage people to use the self checkout, but it is slower. When people don't know how to use it properly, it takes twice as long. Do the walmarts near you have enough people working there?

I would love to have the self check-out in my local wal-marts, but we don't have them here yet. I can't wait until they re-do the wal-mart near us and put one in.
I work evenings, so I usually don't have a problem with the lines to begin with as I am usually ding my shopping at like 1 am. When I do need to run in and grab one thing though, its really annoying to have to wait, even in the express lane.
The express lanes are apparently the place to go if you have 3 carts full of stuff. When I went in last night, there was a women with 2 FULL carts, as in over the edge of the cart full, in the express lane because the 1 other lane open was backed up with at least 25 people.
She was just finishing up when I got back up to the line, after touring the entire foods section for what I was looking for. All I could do was laugh, but still at least 1 other lane would help, 6 would be great and Self-Checkout is beyond my wildest dreams!

NO!!! There are never enough lanes open and you always have to stand in line forever! I was just at Walmart the other night and there wasn't a single lane that had less than 4 people standing in line with full carts! The worst part is that there were only 4 lanes open. I love Walmart, but you're right, they definitely need more employees!

The wal*mart that my fiance and I go to have very friendly courteous people. The lines can be long but then again that is usually only during holidays as the county we live in is not very big.

I worked for Wally World many years ago and there are people there, hiding in the back. I hated listening to them call for checkers about 20 times when I saw people just sitting there watching TV or refusing to go up front to help the customers. Good help is hard to find. The self checkout is my friend, I learned how to use it and I'm usually out of there before I have to hear that poor CSM call for people to "come to the front".

Yeah the Wal Mart me and my fiance go to is sometimes slow, but most of the time they have a lot of friendly helpful people working there, and usually when it is slow its during holidays, since this is a small county, bigger city Wal Marts might need more people, but I am sure that most of them have well organized staff who do all they can for the customers.

My mom and I complain about this all the time. There are never enough check out lanes open. There will be several 10 items or less and of course the self checkout. But usually there are only a few of the regular lanes open. Sometimes I feel it takes me as long to check out as it took me to get groceries. I don't like the self checkout especially if I have a lot of items. Plus I always have some type of problem everytime I use them. And it seems everyone else does to because when you have a problem you have to wait on the cashier and she is always helping someone else. This is a weekly complaint of mine!

We have the same problem here but it is worse at Kmart. There they only keep one register oen even on busy days.

It often doesn't seem like there's enough people working there, but I tend to go when it's not so busy.
I also work in a service job with the city where I live and we desperately need to hire more people, too, but we just can't afford to do so. Our city just doesn't think our department is a priority and don't allocate money to us for more staff. That could be the same thing with the Wal Mart. Perhaps they just don't have the sales volume that the corporations feels that they need in order to be able to hire more people. I don't know how it works with a corporation like this, but I know that's how it is where I work. Perhaps, the manager is in charge of hiring more people.

There's actually a hiring freeze at Walmart. Don't expect an improvement of service any time soon.

I've noticed the crap service at many places too. Walmart isn't the only place infected. K'Mart blinks the pooch with the service department.

There is a refuge that I've noticed. Shop online. There's no waiting. The Web is crawling with deals.

The Walmart close to me took out the self checkout lanes I loved those I could actually get out of the store quicker but now I have to stand in line again while they have 4 cashiers open for 80 people standing in line! It is so annoying!

No. No they don't. I question this because when they first opened they said if there were more than three people waiting in line, they would open another register. Hah! That lasted maybe a week. I remember I went to WalMart at Christmas when they were open early. I figured I could go to WalMart before I went to work so there would be no crowds. No crowds, but also no registers open except one. On top of that, they were restocking so you had to dodge all the boxes. With one teller open, the line was long with a load of cranky people who went there early to avoid the crowds and long lines. WalMart shame on you!

and yet my son may not be able to get a job there. Here reallyneeds to find something. He is living right across
the street from Walmart and it would be great if he could get a job there.

I agree, they have plenty of registers, just not enough bodies behind them. It wouldn't irritate me near as much if they didn't have 15 registers not being used and long lines in the ones that are open. Though on occasion, I do use a self checkout, mostly I am of the opinion that if I wanted to check someone out, I would fill out an application and get a job there.
