Hi friends, Every Wednesday we get a recyling truck to collect our bin full os emptied plastic bottles. And i just love this.I really motivate people to add to the bin all those things that can be recycled.I add all my milk bottles, emptied cans, broken clips etc very religiously. I was wondering if you all to get these trucks once a week collecting stuff from the bin?? I hope you make an effort to support the recycling idea because that will help us cut down on the amount of rubbish being dumped at the landfills. What about plastic bags specially those ones which have meat in them. I would love to know what you all do and how you go about it??

There is a truck like that in our area that comes every other week. You have to buy a small blue recycling bin from the recycling place or they won't even stop to take your stuff. I think they only take paper and plastic bottles, no glass or metals. We didn't get a bin as it was to costly for us and the truck comes by too infrequently and too late in the day. There are only a few bins in our area, but because it's mostly paper and plastic bottles and it's an open small plastic box type of bin (just enough to fit in the newspaper without bending it and to put in about five papers), we often find those items blown out on the street by the wind. Not exactly useful here IMO. Even the recycling place doesn't take everything that is recyclable. It's not worth the trip in this area. I recycle containers around the house, but that's pretty much it for us right now.

Yes we do, plastic and glass bottles and paper. We have rubbish bins in our trash rooms that are assigned to each of these items so they encourage us to follow suit.

I give the recycling to my neighbour and he takes care of it for me. He also salvages different things, copper wiring, whatever, I give him everything.

We have loads of different bins now to put our rubbish in, we have a black bin with a blue lid to put normal rubbish in like plastic coverings, nappies etc. Then we have a brown bin to put all the food waste and cardboard in, then a black bin to put all cans, bottles and stuff that can be recycled. Then we have a clear bag for all paper and catalogues, and then finally we have a white bag for any clothes that are not wanted!! It was really hard at first getting the hang of everything but now it is just part of our routine!!
