Okay I am finally getting rid of dial up connection this Thursday after 18 years of the slowness. Now the problem is I am goinf nuts just waiting for UPS to deliver my modem and then the waiting till Thursday for the service to be avaialable for me. I hate the waits as well for uploading photos and other things as well. Now when I get high speed maybe I can get rich quick here on myLot? Do you have dial uop still? Do you have DSL? Broadband? Cable? Sattelite? How is it for you and have you had any major glitches or downtime? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

If you've been waiting for your computer to connect through dial up then a few more days won't hurt. I used to call WWW (World Wide Web), "World Wide Wait", but now I have DSL, when you get it you'll be hanging out with us 21st century folks. Technology is what it is, it's supposed to simplify our lives but we're at its mercy when it goes kaput.

at this moment my connection using 3G or GPRS access cause i have no landed phone to connect internet in my house. however, i think this connection still can be categorized as dial up connection. the speed of this connection will depend on the area coverage and modem to use. if we have modem 3.5G and we are in 3G coverage area, then we will have very good speed which is about 3 Mbps and in my country those speed is faster enough. the problem will come if our area is unstable in receiving 3G signal cause the connection will be only using GPRS. as like you my friend, i also think if i have good internet connection, perhaps i can earn more from mylot

Wow! You have the patience of a saint! 18 years? Sheesh! My hubby works with computers for a living so, we had to have Cable...I think. I can't remember for sure. All I know is that it is high speed. I can never remember whether it is Cable, Broadband, DSL or what...I know it isn't Satellite, that I can tell you for sure! So, congrats on your new high speed...when it finally arrives! You will love it and, it will get to you eventually and all you can do is wait! Unfortunately! But, once you have it, the waiting will all have been worth it! Congrats again!

I did not want cable nor sattelite as when they go down so does the internet. So i opted for Broadband. I am sure there will still be downtimes but at least I'll be faster. (hopefully) Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You know...I think we do have cable then because, when our cable TV goes out, our computers don't work so, I am guessing that is the case! LOL! Check you out! You figured out my answer for me without even trying! LOL! Thanks!

I agree, it does take so much patience to put up with that for 18 years. Aren't you nice!!! There is no way, that I could have been that patient...

Grandpa Bob, welcome to the high speed club! I also just change my connection from dial up with broadband after 1 4 years. Dial up speed is so slow. when I wanted to download a song about 6 MB, it usually takes me 15-20 minutes. Now with this broadband connection, it takes less than a minute! yipee! Just wait patiently and you will get very excited when you first try the high speed connection.

Congrats! on the upgrade. Sadly I still have dial up and hate it's slowness since I have a very old computer it only dials up to a 14bps it is only 133mhz. The only time I have used DSL or Cable is when I went to my brothers or sisters and used their computer and theirs is so fast then I come home to what I call my snail paced dial up..It can be really aggravating. But unless I do alot better on here then dial up is all that I will have. I have a computer in the shop getting a 56k modem installed and I kinda exciteed thinking that it will be a little faster then what I have now. Hoping anyhow since it is 495mhz. If I do better and it is faster then I will earn more mone and start saving and then I will one day get DSL but at $39.99 a month it is just something I cannot afford right now..well have fun with your High Speed and I hope it is everythig you want it to be and that you don't have any glitches or down time.

WhooooHooo! Lucky you :-) What a difference this will make for you! I still have dial-up, but should finally be able to get dsl from Windstream now that they've updated the lines out here in timbucktoo land lol. We just got the modem & router today. I'm smiling huge today, and I'm sure you are too! Now I can get rid of CallWave & busy call waiting...in the long run, it's going to be a lot cheaper all the way around. Glad you're finally able to upgrade, hope UPS delivers soon!

I would be anxious too and hope that it does get there Thursday. Our cable provider supplies our internet service, part of a package we got two years ago (cable, phone and internet) and have been happy with them so far. Any technical issues they are quick to fix and follow up afterwards too.

We have satellite internet service. It is a lot better than dial up for sure, but some days it is pretty slow depending on how the weather is. We cannot get DSL, Broadband, or cable here since we are in the middle of nowhere.

Try and be patient. It will be worth the wait. It can't be much worse than using a dial up connection. Let me be the 1st to welcome you to higher speed!! Wow 18 years. That's a long time. Don't think I could have done it. Congrats to you.

Woohoo!! Congrats on upgrading! Anything you get will be better then dial up. Actually, not just anything, satellite is TERRIBLE! I've had it and when it's cloudy or any thing other then sunny, you would still need AOL :( I have DSL right now since it's bundled with my phone and DirecTV package and I'm happy with it. However, no matter what you're on as long as you don't use up too much of your memory on your computer, you should be fine. I've had cable internet and don't really see a difference between cable and DSL. All I know is satellite sucks, big time!! However, if you happen to be in the area for FIOS, definately jump on that opportunity. That's supposed to be better then both cable and DSL. Unfortunately, it's not in my area. Anyway, good luck with whatever you sign up for and best of luck surfing!!

We have extreme cable and it is fast for downloading pictures and videos. I found it was faster in downloading from You Tube. We have had no glitches as of yet. I doubt you can get rich here at myLot. Even for those with high speed, mylot is slow in the posting responses, etc. I have no idea why because I want to make more money here as well. I aleady have my min bal set the next level, and I want to cash in every month. Oh and you will love cable? It makes thinks so much better.

i have cable modem, it is Roadrunner, I had DSL had lots of problems with it, loud shrill in the phone when some one called had to get off internet to talk on phone, so switched to cable, if cable goes down so does internet, but not too bad so far, cost $19.95 a month through Time Warner, Time Warner SUCKS! And have to laugh when you said maybe you can get rich quick here on Mylot, good luck. I have tried everything and still only make around 40 cents a day. I know you will like the speed a lot better since you got rid of dial up, for a long time that is all we had, hoping to get a new computer soon.

Yes I know how you feel about dial up been there done that got the t-shirt ( lol ). It was so slow loading up omg! I fineally said "that's it done going for something faster" I decieded to go w/ dsl instead I was much happier that I coould go from one thing to another and the load up time was quick not haveing to wait like I did w/ dial up. I had dsl for a couple of years and started haveing problems w/ it alot so I decieded to change it again I now have a package called triple play from comcast which is my cable, phone and internet all in one. I got it hooked up the end of April of this year and I love it. I haven't had a problem yet and I hope I never do. I hope you like your new service and it makes you happier. Have fun take care.
