Do you order your prescriptions online?

and have them delivered to your home? or do you order them online and pick them up at your pharmacy at a scheduled time? Or do you drop by and put in the order then wait 15 minutes for them?
I just ordered online through CVS another dose of Lipitor 40mg for my husband and decided not to have it delivered, but be picked up at 7pm tonight. Since we are heading out that way (I have an overdue library book to return), I thought I would save the hassle and order it online now and have it ready after 7pm.
If we have lots of time on our hands, we usually drop by any CVS pharmacy and have it refilled there with a waiting time of 15-20 minutes.
How about you? What pharmacist do you use and what method of ordering refills do you use? Thanks for sharing.

I deal strictly with my pharmacist face to face. I would never in a million years trust an online site unless I knew for a fact it was directly monitored and hosted by my pharmacy.

CVS has been trustworthy for us over the last two years and I have ordered my husbands medicine through them before. I can understand what you're saying though.

I'm hoping he won't have to take these for very long but it looks like he will be for a while.

I'm not looking forward to the day when I need so many meds, that ordering online is a better option. But I'm glad you trust your pharmacy and it's site. That would be the only way I'd be comfortable doing it.

I really should see about ordering them online. As it is we drive a round trip of 118 miles to our pharmacy and have a fairly long wait once there.. we do combine that with a commissary shopping but truly could go without that quite as often.
my mother receives her regular meds via the mail - however, she does not order them online.
she got rid of the computer when Daddy passed away.

That is a long way to go and get prescriptions. I wonder if there are any stores there that would deliver to your home too?

I never do anything like that to get my prescriptions, when I have a prescription I just go to the chemist to pick it up. I am lucky in that I do not have to take any medication on a regular basis anyway, but also I am lucky as there are 3 chemists in my town and they are all only about 5 minutes away from my house and doctors. There is never any queue so I am just in and out which is really good, no hanging around and spending any extra money when I see something I might just think I should have!!

That's great you have them within reasonable distance of your home and that you don't need to wait long. We have on occasion gone in and orderd and instead of it taking 15 minutes, have waited as long as 30 minutes. I saved us 27 minutes by ordering it online yesterday as it was already ready when we got there :)

Hello again! I usually call my scripts in by phone because I have so many! My hubby teases that when I do ask them to deliver my order to the house that they have to back a semi truck up to the door to off load my order. LOL!
MOST MONTHS I DO ASK MY PHARMACY TO DELIVER THEM. THEY DO IT FOR NO FEE. I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG THAT WILL LAST WITH THE PRICE OF GAS. WE GET PAID JUST ONCE A MONTH SO WE SHOP ONCE A MONTH BUT IF WE HAVE A DR. APPT. AND WILL BE IN THE AREA THEN WE WILL PICK THEM UP. I USE MARTINS PHARMACY, I THINK THEIR MOTHER COMPANY IS CALLED "GIANT".

We call the pharmacy, and then go in sometime in the next day to pick up the prescription.

wow I don't think we can order online! The pharmacy I use is really good and when I take a prescription in I never have to wait more than 5 minutes or so and I get to catch up with the great women who work there whilst I wait! My Gran gets her prescription the same place but she gets hers ina special tablet folder where all her tablets for the week are in a pop out folder with the pills set out for different times each day - all she has to do is open the blister pack for the time of day and day it is and she has the tablets she needs to take at that time - so much easier than her getting confused or me sitting for ages organising the different tablets and double checking I have it right! the folder is replaced every week and is ready to be picked up without her ordering it! xxx

That's good that you only have to wait not more than 5 minutes.
Talk about organised and being able to get your tablets all sorted out and packaged - great idea! thanks for sharing mummymo.

Since I normally only have 1 maybe 2 prescriptions to fill in a years time, I normally drop it off and wait. It's not too bad since I use the Walmart pharmacy, since the presription is only $4. I recently had to have a presript filled for pain killers when I injured my wrist at work. I had about a 30 minute wait, but while I was waiting I picked up a few things I needed, since it is a Super Walmart, and since I don't have medical insurance it's nice to only pay $4.

$4 that is a nice price to pay for prescription. My husband's cost us $90 and that is with insurance. It's lipitor for cholesterol and when he sees his doctor next month, I'm going to request a generic one. It's way to expensive for my liking.

$90 for a 3 months supply. Was told by the pharmacist that it costs $453 and our insurance covers the rest. Ridiculous I think.

My son is the only one who has a medicine that he takes every day that gets refilled. His is a medicine that I have to go to the doctors office every month and pick up a new script. They cannot call it in and he is not allowed to give refills on it. My daughter was taking prescription Zyrtek, but now it is over the counter. When I had refills on hers I would call and get it refilled and then go get it.

My hubby's doctor prescribes several refills per prescription so we don't have to go back to him to request another one after the first lot have been used.

I order my prescriptions on line and pick them up
at RiteAid. they have had my business for years
and I trust them completely. I never have to wait as
they are ready when I get there. as I am physically
handicapped it makes it much more pleasant for me as
I do not have to stand for any time on my bad leg.lol
I do a lot of stuff online now,I bank on line and order
my groceries on line and my prescriptions on line.its
great for anyone with disabilities.

Isn't it amazing what we can do online nowadays. I'm glad that you can order and pick your prescription up too and even order other things online. We order groceries online from time to time, when my husband is away and because I can't drive, if the weather is terrible then I use that option too.
Thanks for responding Hatley!

I have to ring my dr's surgery and order it over the phone, they then take a day or two to re write a new script and then I can collect it to take to the pharmacy, after the sugery sending out a prescription to an address I dont even live at leaving me no tablets for my kidneys I always order collect and get the medication myself or partner does it as I have to take them daily without fail

It depends where I need to go. I have used several different Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Sav-on, etc. I don't have any medications that are chronic except for something my older daughter is taking, and soon I hope that will be entirely her problem and not up to me to order, pick up, and pay for. =) If I DID have several things I had to get every month, I'd likely order a 3 month supply online and have it shipped. I guess it would also depend how my insurance company handled that too. If it was cheaper, definitely. For the most part I can fit in dropping off a prescription with necessary shopping.

We order 3 months supply too and our prescriptions are usually good for 3 times and then another needs to be written out by his doctor after that. It's not cheap either and cost us $90 for 3 months. I'm going to ask his doctor next month at his next appointment for a generic one that doesn't cost as much as the one he is on now.
