I've just started running and my legs are sore after just two days! It must be doing me good! So how often do you go running and for how long?

Make sure that when you go running that u have a warm-up before and a cool-down after. Always stretch before and after as well. If you start to feel pain in your shin, this could mean you are doing too much too soon. Then you will need to ice it. But if it is only soreness in muscles you should stretch more and use biofreeze.
I am on my high school's cross country team. I love running! Our Cross Country races are 5k(3.1 miles) long. But in practice we go up to about 6 miles a day. Because other days we may do speed workouts, which would be shorter. You should think about running with other people maybe a team or just a group of friends. I am really passionate about running. I ran a cross country race this morning and I cant wait to run again tommorow. I run almost everyday. Unless, you know something happens or i decide to take a day off. I am always happy to hear about new people running!

Well, I am a part of the Cross Country team at my school, so running is usually from summer to fall for me.
During the season, I will run every day except for Sundays to give the legs a rest.
The shortest we run is three miles, most people do more. Those are the easy days.
The hard days we do repeat of some sort. Either five 1000 meter repeats, or three 1 mile repeats, etc.
Those days get hard because we also run to a place and back to do them! On hard days the mileage gets up to 7 or 8 miles.
Saturdays are my favorites. On Saturdays, we just run for distance. The longest we usually go on is 12 miles, but next season I hope to go 13.1 miles just so I can say I've done a half marathon :P. The fastest I've done 12 miles is 1 hour and 30 minutes, and I'm pretty proud of it.
Hopefully after college I'll do a full marathon.
Also, in July I plan on running 20 miles over the course of 12 or so hours during Relay for Life. (8 miles, break, 8 miles, break, 4 miles)
Good luck on you running!

Soreness isn't necessarily an indication that you're doing yourself any good. I hope you're remembering to walk for about 5 minutes before you start running, to warm up the muscles, and that you take time to stretch and cool down afterward. These steps will keep you from injuring your muscle and prevent cramping.
