Most people consider this is a truth that people with education are more successful in their life careers.
But is it true that people who dropping of school don't get a chance to be successful?I don't think so.
Many famous people had very little education. Mark Twain, one of our most famous writers, and Charlie Chaplin, the great movie comedian, dropped out of school before 8th grade.
Education is a great help, but it is possible to be successful even if you leave school early. We can still study in our whole life.Studying is a lifetime course,it's never too old to learn!
What do you think?

Succees is for everyone to make, although we cannot deny the fact that earning a degree sets us to boost our chances of being successful, there are also undergraduate individual who are able to earn good living because of the so called unique approaches in life. In the corporate field, degree holder have better chances to apply for a job rather than a school drop out but our level of personal approaches depends on how much we make use of it.

well i accept with this person here.education is most important in our lives.not only does it gives knowledge but also provides us and teaches us the basic standards in society. people who dropped out of school are generally suffering from unemployment(some)but others with their unique approach are not only employed in high ranks but are being efficiently successful.
one thing is for sure whether it is a fact or science fact anything, it always has exceptions.and these exceptions might shock us sometimes but do not start believing in them.

I agree with you, We can name a lot of successful people in this world who never had any formal education or any degree. Although, it is an advantage to have bachelor's degree or doctorate but still not an assurance! everything lies in attitude, perseverance and determination plus hard work . With these qualities, it is very possible to attain whatever dreams a person have!

Yes, I truly believe that education can only assist you to become successful in life as you would be prepared to face the real life after school. But Not finishing schooling guarantees that you are doomed in life, I too hav seen many cases in the past that those Out of school are the ones that grab a better position in their lives and are living comfortably in their lives. That is because they were challenged to exert more effort in their younger years that is why they were able to succeed. That is what education is all about getting you prepared in life and a much better chance that you get what you want in life. But it does not guarantee that your life will be better. It is you in the end that will still determine that.

I think the folks who got ahead without education are the minority as far as being successful. You need that degree to get into jobs. Whether from a technical school or a college.
You are most certainly right about never being too old to learn. Especially in this job market we need to keep educating ourselves for careet advancement. And keeping these aging minds on the ball, means learning too...

I believe that as long as you have GCSE's then you can make it, without GCSE's you can't really do anything. Further education is not necessary, it just depends what industry you want to go into and how low you are prepared to start.

well, luck + hardwork + talent + education = success.
some people just have more than the others. success, after all, is subjective.
good day!

I would word it very differently. I think education is absolutely essential. However I think that the education doesn't have to come from a formal school environment.
I think all the examples you list did spent a lot of effort and time on their own education. But they took control of it themselves and pursued what they needed in order to become successful.

I agree. I know of a modern example, John Travolta. I didn't finish highschool and yet he is a well known actor and a fine pilot.Education doesn't mean college only, You can further your education without college.

Of course if a person is creative enough and bright enough they could succeed without an education. I do have a friend who dropped out in our senior year of highschool. She now owns her own restraunt and brewery and is highly successful. I think she is a rarity. She , herself, pushed her own children to finish school and go on to college. She has had to work very, very hard to get to where she is at and she would not recomend it to anyone. I think as time goes on, education is more and more important in order to succeed. Unless you have a talent and can be successful on your own or you get some lucky break, many places won't hire you without your diploma and many expect higher education.

i am 32 years old now but still i am studying for my second course. learning is a continuous process, we need to study to acquire more knowledge. i don't believe also that if you will not get higher education you will not successful because many people don't have enough education but still they succeed. although this is the case but much better if you have higher education much more you will succeed.

It depends, I think, on what one learned prior to dropping out of school and why one drops out of school...
In too many cases nowdays, with the No Child Left Behind in the United States, the focus is on preparing for tests and not always on real teaching of the things that the students will need to learn in real life.
If an adolescent cannot read or write well and has poor mathematics skills, his or her chance of success will be lessened because of the lack of skills that adolescent has. If the student does not obtain the reading and writing skills, his or her ability to do independent self study will be reduced. If a person is operating at a lower grade level and quits school, he or she will require a lot of assistance to catch up and become the best that he of she can be.
In the old days, more time, energy and effort was spent at home teaching the children how to read and write, etc. They were expected to learn a lot of information but did not have to learn as much as our children are expected to learn now. The reason for this is that in the past children were expected to remain in their communities and to farm or do factory or small business work. Now there is the need for studnets to compete against people from all over the world and this requires them to learn more information and to have more experience of learning in the classroom or in home school settings under the supervision of qualified teachers.
There are an ample amount of low paying service jobs that will not support people. And there are also construction, caregiving, coal mining, forestry, and paving jobs that require a lot of hard work... The factory jobs which used to take in a lot of poorly educated people are now mostly moving away from the States.
I do not think that a drop out will be successful unless that drop out has a great will to succeed, a good skill level or a strong willingness to attain one, intelligence, creativity, social skills enough to recruit assistance when needed, a good memory, and plenty of supports.
I would recommend that students stay at school, be homeschooled or do supervised independent study rather than dropping out as there is a higher percentage of dropouts who suffer poverty, etc. due to having dropped out than not dropping out and finishing and employers like seeing that people know how to complete their schooling as that makes it more likely that they will be trusted to complete projects at work. Those who go to school also have the opportunity of getting community work experience and volunteer work experience and can also get references from their teachers that can help them get jobs later. Those who quit do not get these assists and so are further hampered in their progress.

Hi, i am a highly educated person and i am now homeless living in motels and have no where to go. there has been an invasion in so. cal. and very mean nasty people and the most crowded and expensive and horrible place in the world now. it's not even america here anymore. so education means nothing, nothing at all. a loving family means a lot. friends mean a lot. i only have enemies. i have been too nice and people took advantage of me. you could say i'm a fool, but i'm in a lot of trouble now. and i sort of want revenge at all the evil thats going on here. the trash can of the united states is los angeles and surrounding areas. i promise you. i.m moving far away where it's still america, because it isne't here.

I think education is very very important in this modern world . It is a gate way of success in any fields.Regarding the question of drop outs, they have finished their formal education by not going to school. But those people who have come up successfully even they have no big degrees, will get education informally by taking private tutions and so that they will get knowledge but not degrees.

To tell you the truth I didnt learn anything that was usual to me in life while I was in school, but unfortunately, in this sometimes cruel world, you gotta suffer those 12 or thirteen years to make a go at it on the outside.....some people are lucky and have extraordinary talents and entrepreneurial skills and they are able to go somewhere in little education, but my advice to anyone is just those years over it and get through it in one piece and it's done and your free to do what you want and your diploma will always be there if you need to fall back on it!

Those people dropped out of school in a time when there were very few new things emerging. If you had good sense and could read and write a little, you were fine. Nowadays, technology changes every year and people need a lot more knowledge just to survive at a minimum wage job!
It's possible, but not probable that a high-shcool dropout could earn a decent living and prosper. Many employers here in the U.S. require a high school education. One business owner told me that when they come across an application that lists a GED (meaning a person got their equivalent but didn't actually graduate) they toss that one away because the person doesn't have the focus or ambition to complete the most basic first task of their life which is getting through high school

I think that you are right, it is possible to be successful without a school education, but I still wish that I had done better with mine.
Some kids do not know what they want to do at the age they leave school anyway and a lot of people start studying when they are a lot older. I am thinking of re starting some studying, I want to learn some new skills and at 34 I feel that I am now ready!!

If I remember correctly, Einstein was a drop out. Or, it could have been another genius. Either way, there have been some serious smarties in the world that have less then a high school education, some who never even made it through elementary school.
So, while college, and school in general can provide book knowledge, it isn't always the end all, be all. I know a man who didn't go to college but owns his business and, it is a lucrative one at that.
Now, I am not negating the need for college. But, being a college drop out myself, I would never think poorly of someone who either didn't finish college or, never even got started. I may have been something more than just an Administrative Assistant if I had finished college but, to tell you the truth, I don't have a passion for what was my major. So, I would likely be in a job that I no longer was interested in and, that might feel worse than not having finished my education and being in a job that doesn't always take that much thought!

First off, if you decide to drop out of school you should have a definite plan as to what you want to do. Yes there are poeple who did drop out, but they became successfull later on. The thing is, if you are going to go to school since kindergaden then why waste thirteen years of your life. Jsut droping out whould make it seem like just a waste. And yes, education is important and no college is not for everyone. I'm taking a year off. But I have a definite plan as to what I am doing. To just say "F-it" and not go, seems really stupid. You can definitly get somewhere without a colege degree. I am about to be a manager a resturaunt and have been working for about a year. I am not going to college and don't have a degree. Hard work reps great rewards. And the thing is, you can always go back and get your degree.
