Solid wood will last the longest, but is also the most expensive. The problem with laminate and melamine is that that they are a thin layer over fiber board. Lamintate can be a layer of wood or wood or plastic, melamine is usually plastic, but Unfortunately, if moisture gets through the top layer, usually around corner seams or doors, the fiber board absorbs it and expands, losing its structural intigrity. A good compromise is the cabinets with an MDF (meadium density fiberboard) body and real wood doors and fronts. They sell basic versions of these at places like Home Depot and Lowes. Whatever you get, make sure your doors and drawer fronts are made of wood.
Good Luck.

If I had a choice Iwould go with Solid wood. I love the way it looks. I think it makes a kitchen feel more cozy and that is importnat to me. However I think that might be the most expensive option.
My current cabinets are laminate and they are fine. I would sugget doing some research on the internet and thinking about your own style or budget.

Well it depends if you want a durable one and last for long choose solid wood. If you want a new and modern you choose laminated wood. but be careful not enter the water inside the wood it will pop out. Well melamine is new too but I don't think it's good for a kitchen cabinet. If you change every now and then laminated wood is good for you. It's nice in the eyes. But if you ask my opinion I will go for a solid wood durability and lasting. You can change it color if you want to look it new. Even if it's wet it still good.

i have neither done such investigation on it nor be experienced in it.but one key point i suggest you is you'd better choose those nature materials with no pollution.
as we know,so many people are suffering indoor pollution,so it's wise to ask professionals for pollution part in advance.
