Get him a gift certificate for a massage, or better yet if you know he has no plans for that day, make the appt, take him there, let him get pampered and then take him to dinner. There are many spa options just for men now a days, so check it out. :)

that could work too, not all ppl's hands can last at least an hour to give a good massage tho, but that would be good if she could.

I guess I'd have to know about your boyfriend, you're talking about a physical gift to give him.
I try to create memories for my boyfriend on his birthday. He works really hard (construction/tile setter) so making him dinner, dressing myself up, and making him happy...is all that really matters to him, he's not big on presents and all that...
But it'll be his birthday at the end of this month, and he's still talking about his birthday from last year ;)
So I guess I did well....
Does he play video games, poker, what does he do for a living? Does he drink? (some people have favorite drinks, and cool glasses are always useful, some people collect stuff like that) Does he have a band he saw in concert a long time ago, that you could go to some cd exchange or discount music store and see what priceless collectibles you can find?
If I knew about him, I might be able to help....

I'm also big on making cards, not enough people spend the time doing so....regardless of how it looks, he'll know you didn't just go out and buy it.
Do you have a picture of the two of you that you absolutely love? Go to the mall, get the picture put on some fabric for a throw pillow or something. You can go to Wal-mart and find cool trim that you can stitch around the pillow...
when you make gifts, you can put your love inside of it, I know I might sound out there, but the time you spend, and the more you enjoy making it for him, the better it will look...
Think back to all the times you've talked and the random things he's mentioned, this is when listening matters....the most random things they say, can point to exactly what they want... :)

Get him something that has something to do with a hoby he likes. If he likes mortorcycles a nice new helmet, if he golfs a new golf bag, or state of the art clubs, or just one one really expensive impressive club, if he like photography a new camera. Something really nice that goes a long with an interest of his.
