Hey there Steph_shortnsweet........ I think the boy is gorgeous! Maybe a lil'- on the dark side, but wow, what a great picture! My suggestion would be to keep doing what you're doing, and once in a while, bamm!, you get that great picture. Even the people who do this for a living, don't always get it right. Have fun, and keep snapping those great shots! Marilyn ;o)

I think it looks great! ;) one thing I can comment to regarding the photo is that your subject should not touch the frame, so that it would look more desirable. anyway, the b&w effect is always great for portraits! more power on your photography :)

I don't think there is much wrong with the composition, but you have stretched ability of the camera to record both shadow detail and highlights. I have no idea if this is a typical example of your photography, the only good shot you have ever taken, or a picture that is below you usual standard; but you know what? It doesn't matter. Portrait photography is less about talent and more about promotion and business savvy. Take a few hgod pictures and put them about. Offer you services to local choirs, schools, parents' groups, social clubs. Get you friends to show your photos to people they know: new mums, parents with kids starting school or joining the local soccer club (uniforms are great)....print some business cards to got with the pics. Invest in a few backdrops and reflectors, read up on portraiture, maybe take a short course ~ prepare for the venture. Get you name out there and turn a dollar!

I think the picture is really nice, its a little dark though. But you do have a handsome little boy. Just keep practicing. Practice makes perfect
