Hi Friends
There is a middle aged man that
I have seen around town lately
and he is sort of flirting with me..
First..I'm not ready to allow another man in my life..
Second..he drives a sports car!
I have this idea that older
men that drive the little
hot cars are trying to compensate
for other indeficenties...
Or they haven't grown up..
Or they are trying to recapture their youth
or they are trying to pick up younger women
Or....
What do you think?

Well, theres that male menopause thing that generally has something to do with middle aged men and hot sports cars. Besides, the last guy you were involved with had a hot car and a girl friend - who wasn't you...
I generally consider the big trucks on jacked up wheels are a compensation for lack in other areas.

We bought a sporty little convertible at a yard sale. I think because it represented something we would never have indulged in when we were younger. To the winds with practicality. Nevertheless we get 32-40 mpg. Good enough reason to own it.

Maybe all of those are true Mom but then again maybe they are now able to afford the car they always wanted and didn't have the money for when they were younger - maybe he is just following his dreams! No harm in flirting you know - it is good for the soul! xxx

I say go out for coffee with him, something in the day time where a lot of people are. Get to know him, he might be a great guy who has never been married so can afford a sports car! Men like fast cars, its just in their nature. You aren't letting him in your life if you get to know him. Heck, you might even wind up with at the VERY least a new friend!

I have to respond things aren't like they appear. When men hit thier middle age syndrome they begin to think wow I am getting old I dont know how much life I have left, They get these friviolous things to make sure when they are old they can say they did what they wanted and lived it. Not that many will confess to this though. I have a very honest husband that shared this with me. If a woman at the age of 50 where to get a sports car would you say the same? Chances are no you would not. If you have not hit menopause yet just wait you will begin to do many things that you and your loved ones will question but it does not mean you are trying to do any particular thing. Lots of older women enjoy bingo, lots of men enjoy cars.

Hey Ray, why be so negative? Maybe it's something he wanted since he was a kid. Who knows? I always dreamed of having a sports car...I never thought it would actually happen, then one day, I was looking to buy a car and there it was ....my sports car. I thought about it and came up with many reasons why I couldn't have it then I thought ....why not? I may never have the opportunity again and so I bought it. I loved driving it, showing it off, washing it. It was a lot of fun and I'll never forget how wonderful it was to be stared at and flirted with while I drove it. It was just great.

hmm a sports car is kinda like a must-have for me. one of these days i'm gonna save enough and buy one for myself. sometimes a middle-age man drives a sports car simply because he could only afford it now. and i can say that driving a sports car is a life-long dream of many. i'm a woman, and i also dream of owning one myself. but i'd most probably be middled aged before i can afford one.
to me the character of a man can't really be told by the car he drives. or for that matter the clothes he wears or the place he stays. it takes a lot more to really know what a man is like. why not give both of you a chance and see where it might lead to? cheers.

Hi raydene! Oh, those kind of men are having some middle age crisis! haha.. Sometimes, I really can't put my trust on these men when I know for sure they are just trying to feed their ego or something. I remember when I was just 17 years old, a very much older man who is really wealthy was trying to pursue me and my father got angry with him and told him to stay away from me. I was scared too because I was so young then. That was my first encounter with men like them and it was not the last. Until this time, older men will try to flirt with me and I will always them flash my wedding ring just like that, and they will just smile and say, "It doesn't matter"..That really pi$$ed me since I dress decently and why they still try to make a pass on me. When i tell my husband about it, he will really laugh and tease me saying that "You still got it sweetheart!" I guess, he was just laughing because he knows that I wouldn't replace him with any man in this world. How secured he feels and I don't like that! haha..
Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

Or they just like them and feel good driving one. I don't prejudge people and since I don't know the older guy, I can't guess why he drives a sports car other than he likes to. I don't see anything wrong with it, as if he can afford to, they're usually more expensive, then why not. I don't think they are trying to pick up younger women, well maybe some do, but I think since they are older and have worked hard all their lives, why not let them have the simple pleasures of life, and if that includes a sports car, I say go for it. Now, mind you, I am an older woman so maybe I see it different than the younger people. But that is my opinion and I would like a sports car myself, not to pick up younger men, but because it would make me feel good.

Hi Raydene, I am totally with you on this one. My ex husband is about to hit 50 and is suddenly driving around in a sportscar with a girl half his age much to the digust of his daughters. He will losss much more than money of this girlie I can assure you. I really do not know why they do it. Perhaps they always wanted a sports car and couldn't afford when young so have purchased now but its the young girl to go with it that makes me laugh. They will all become very lonely old men if they don't get over it eh! Ellie :D

while yes, there are some.. who hit a certain age, face their ownmortality, and atempt to recapture youth by driving a hot little car.. alot of them are prolly just fullfilling a lifelong dream.. and have just simply bought the car theyve always wanted, but couldnt afford in their younger days.

well, may be all that you had said are right... they can't afford a sport car when they are young... so they buy it when they are middle-aged... men have lots of pride and always like to show off especially in front of women... but i will say you give this man a chance... just go out for lunch, dinner or a cup of coffee with him and find out more about him... you don't have to have any relationship with him... if you decided you don't like him, you can just be friend with him then... good luck and have a nice day...

It sounds to me like he is flirting also and he is trying to do so by acting like he is younger and also by driving those younger guy sports car. I think he need to act his own age and find someone his won age without forcing himself on younger women like that. If it is meant for him to have a younger woman, the car will not be what gets it for him.

Or he came from future, he was a handsome and rich guy, but because of the time machine's effect (Time Trax movie), then he get old too soon. He thought, "Whatever, I just bring the money that I can afford for this car, I will take my plastic surgery later by selling this car, but after I get this girl first."

yes recapture their youthfulness is more like the word,i have seen older men in very hot sports cars and when they drive around in the cars heads turns towards their direction,i think they are attention seekers which is almost like what a teenager will always seek.

hi raydene I always thought these middle aged men and
their sports cars were trying to make themselves believe
they are still a young lothario instead on the way to
being an old geezer.lol of course they are looking for younger
women as they have proably dumped their middle agedwife.
