Yes, I'm still going on vacation. In fact, even with the price of fuel, I was still able to find airline tickets for around $200 each.

I think that we will be staying in the state this year and probably not doing much driving even in the state. With gas being $3.63 here in Nebraska we can't afford to do much. I wish they would figure out how to change the gas price. This is getting ridiculous.

Yes it is getting ridiculous, but that is cheap where you live, right now the gas is $3.89 and is steady rising. Thanks for you input!

My sister moved to Virginia last year, we were planning on going to see her. With gas prices the way they are we might not be going. Also we like going to the flea markets every year, we might not be able to do that neither. I just got $20 of gas today, you know that wasn't much, not at $3.83 a gallon. Its legal robbery.

Hi vicky that is cheap compared o some place, you got a steal. I purchase some gas last night and it was $3.89 so you got a deal. Do they have place where ou get discount on Gas, like a Speedway Gas Station? or a Get-Go Gaint Ealge super Market? you get 20cents off a gallon as long as you spend $50.00

Heck no, who can afford it anymore?! Out of all the people I know who regularly go out of State for a vacation, every one of them has opted to just stick around the area. We are being hit from all sides because of the high price of gasoline, and it's affecting the price of food, home heating and cooling, and everything else. People forgoing their vacations will hurt the hospitality industry & tourism as well. Lots of towns count on their income from the tourist season to carry them through the rest of the year. With that loss of income for them I'm sure lots of them will go into foreclosure, just like a lot of the rest of the people in our country. People are losing their houses and everything else because they simply can't afford it all. In times like this, the family vacation is probably the first non-necessity to quit. It's a shame the whole way around!!

We will not be going on vacation this year. We may take a trip for a weekend or something like that but that is about it. I doubt if we even do that because of the high gas prices and the prices of everything else too. We are trying to get some bills paid off also and we work seven days per week also. My husband is going to take a couple days off in June or July though and I will also. We will probably just swim in the pool and ride our four wheelers around here though. I won't be going to another state if we do travel though.

Hi Marcia-I live in the UK my son drives and the price of gas has gone sky high here so my son only drives to work and back then sometimes goes out at least once a month for a good night out but gas doesn't last long enough to go on long drives though its meant to -littleowl

Hi Marcia! No, we aren't going on a vacation this year. We just have too many other expenses to think about and can't afford it like we would love to do. We will be making two trips to Birmingham, Alabama, one this month and one next month, but they will be doctor's appointments for Amanda and Stuart. They won't be a vacation but at least we will be getting out of the house for a day.

I was planning on going to Florida to visit with my brother and sister in June. I have decided not to make that trip since the gas of price has gotten so out of hand. Though I may take a shorter trip to Tennessee for a few days to meet a friend that I met on-line several years ago!

Marcia, I have a brand new granddaughter, and can't afford the gas to go see her, I am so disgusted! It is not that far, 2 hours, but then that cuts into my gas money for the things I have to do here at home. Lord I wish the government would open the reserves, and our own resources, and tell the Arabs to go gas themselves.

I think with the high prices of gas/petrol, people should be starting to look into public transport more. You see, less cars on the roads means public transport would be more efficient. Let one person be responsible for driving 20 people around instead of 20 people trying to 'race' each other to the next set of traffic lights.
I know not always possible, but the price is only going to go up and petrolium and oil resources are not going to last forever.

hi marciascott,
I think it is not practical nowadays to travel for no reason at all in order to save gasoline.
