My mother tongue language is English. I learned French from the age 11 to 16. I like to speak French and knowledge of this language has helped me when traveling. It is spoken in France, part of Belgium and French Polynesia. In 2006 I went to Central America and came home wishing to learn Spanish. I have learned the basics with a book and some audio disks. In September I hope to go to an evening class and then I will get on better learning Spanish. I spent four months living in the Netherlands and tried to learn some Dutch. The local people in the Netherlands seem to be excellent at different languages.

Dutch is really an adaptation of several languages that's why they are so good at other languages, lol. There is a lot of English and German in it, some French, too, as well as a scandinavian influence.
