I heard people say.. LIFE IS WHAT WE MAKE IT. does it mean that our destiny depends upon the choice we make everyday?
what if our parents are the ones deciding things for us?
they made the choice for us because they know what is best for us?
Well, any idea?

Your parents cant really decide everything for you there are going to be some choices that you make on your own and they will also determine what you do with your life and from birth till 18 isnt really about your life its just the foundation of your life, once your on your own and deciding everything for yourself thats when your really going to create what your life will be like

Good points lexibethr, do you believe that if you have good foundations when you are yet under your parents custody has a great impact of your everyday choices? and your life depends upon your choices?
Well, that's what it means.. Life is what you make it,,,
Your choices makes you what you will be someday.
Would you believe on this?

Yeah life does depend on your choices because every choice you make has a consequence whether its a good or bad one. And yes I so think that the foundation your parents help you build will effect your choices but an even larger part of that will come from who you are, you can live in a house with bad parents and still be a good person or with good parents and be a bad person, you only get a little of who you are from your parents but you will also get it from your chosen activities and from your friends and you will continue to add to that as you get older do new things and meet new people.

Hello dear Bebs. To begin with, thank you very much for this interesting discussion. I quite agree with you that life is what we make it. Life is like a boat on the river or sea. We are the one to control the direction as to where we want to the boat to go in most cases, though there are sometimes some cases that are beyond our control. As to our parents deciding things for us, for sure they are more experienced in quite a few things that they make some good choices for us. We have a saying in China that there must be someone who can be my teacher of us three. So I would like to follow any good advice so long as it is reasonable and acceptable and beneficial to my need and to my good. I am also a very good follower in accepting nice and good ideas. Thank you for your nice discussion.

Oh!! that's good. An open minded person really make a good future because he is open to the possibilities of what makes a good life. Yes, there are times that parents are right but I think it is not for them to make choices for their kids. they make advice or guidance but not to decide things for them.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Ah what a tangled web we weave!
Life is indeed full of twists and turns and every decision made leads us in a certain direction. Some parts of our lives are pre-determined and no matter what decisions we make we'll end up there eventually, but as for the majority of our life, we make the decision. Therefore we choose which direction our lives are going.
Of course, you have to take into consideration that your path may cross someone else's and depending on your contact with that person, your path may become diverted, or even merged for a while in a direction you never expected.
There are just so many factors that come into play when the direction of your life is in question. Yes your decisions today may change what your tomorrow could be or would have been. That's why we should make our choices carefully. 1 bad decision can not only spiral into a whole series of bad events, but it could also negatively affect those who cross your path.

You are right....by this, it simply means that life is a consequence of our actions. That is, all depends our deeds. Our deeds keep entailing different results which keep entailing different actions...this process continues like this, and finally it's us who make our lief. So life is what we make it.

I think you have a point but it is important to make the right choices for our deeds depends upon the choice we make.

this simply means that our future is dependent on wehat we do today. that is, whatever actions we are doing, we will get its fruit later and thus life depends on our deed and it means that we should think well before doing something as our future will be besed on our actions, thus we ourselves make our life.hence, life is what we make it.

If you look to the rule of determinism life can't be what you make it. Determinists believe that our lives are already determined by a higher being/force. Even the colour of the clothes you chose to wear everyday is already determined.
Life is what you make it assumes you have free will. I think in our lives we are faced with many opportunities many choices and different paths you can go down.
They say that 10 percent will always happen to you and 90 percent is due to how you react to it. Life is what you make it is about how you react to things and basically making the most, getting enjoyment and happiness out of everything you can regardless how small.

Whenever you make a choice you are making a turn at a fork in the road, go one way and you will end up here, go another and you will end up there. These choices do not necessarily mean that your whole life will be dictated by them. I was a stay at home mom for 15 years and then went to college and found a job. I worked at that job for 8 years and moved to Florida where I am living a completely different life. Had anyone told me 10, 20 or 30 years ago that I would have lived the life I've lived or ended up where I am today, I would have told them that they were crazy. Life is ever changing and it IS what you make it.
