Do you keep a diary? Its a great way to express your emotions on paper and treasure experiences. Twenty years from now, you'll wonder what you were doing years ago. A diary will remind you of the good- and bad-times you had in your past.
Personally I maintained my diary since last 10 years, written full record of my frustrations and celebrations.
Along with writing, what else you do? Do you decorate it also? If yes, then how? I would love to get new ideas of decoration ?

Ya, since we always tend to hide it hence we forget to enter, being preoccupied with so many other chores.

As to what I believe, writing isn't simply leaving words behind behind the pen's tip; in fact writing is the most secured and simple way of bringing one's thoughts, opinions and doubts to surface, owing things ups and thus having them as huge challenges to fight, or simply sweet memories to be cherished for life :)

I used to keep a diary when I was younger, but I haven't recently. I never really meant to stop writing in one, but it just seemed like as I got older, I also got a lot busier, so I stopped taking the time to write in one after awhile. I tried to start one again last year, and I did make a few long entries, but I ended up stopped pretty quickly. I think there were times in the past when I really needed a diary because it was a really good outlet for me, but now I have other hobbies that I use as outlets, and I also talk to my husband when I need to let out my feelings, so I don't feel as much of a need for a diary anymore I guess. I do still have all my old diaries though! I occasionally go back and read entries in them. Most of them are just silly things that don't interest me anymore to read, but a few of them are pretty good. I mostly just keep them packed away, but I spent so much time on them before that I just don't have the heart to get rid of them! :)

I think you need not get rid of your old diaries as you've worked on them. Anytime in future when you read, you like the silliest things also you have written. I used to write almost everyday using it as an outlet during my struggling period. It helped me alot. Now with His Blessings we are comfortable and usually I forget to write as I have so many other occupations and hardly get time to write, it can take 1 week to 2 weeks for the next entry. But I write all important things that happened during that time. My diary is always hidden away from other family members' reach!.Lol!

Hello comfort,
I had two diaries when I was in High School and one in College! When I got married and relocate, I decided to burn it,LOL! so that I can make sure, it will not be passed to anyone! It was my secret only, my feelings, success and failures were poured out there, I love to decorate my diaries! this time, I am not into it anymore, I have compilation of pictures with captions though as my replacement to the said habit!

At young age every person has different feelings, emotions which we enter them in a diary if we are into it. At later age we have different feelings , life gets settled down, and that time when we read about our young age feelings then we think how immature we were. So its with everybody, we ourself get amazed to see our own behaviour at that age. Picture collection is also a very good hobby!Keep it up!

HI comfort, I agree with you, but maybe if I didn't move to another Country, I will just preserve those diaries.LOL,Anyway, the notes there were entirely childish and funny, and for me, I can't allow anybody to read it!LOL!

I've kept a diary since I was 11 years old (I'm 32 now). It is so helpful to be able to record all of my thoughts, feelings, and frusterations! Not too mention, I can go back and read how things have changed. LOL

I don't keep a diary. I have a journal I write random thoughts feelings stories about whats happening in. But Its not consistent and the subjects are kind of scattered.
My grandparents have kept a diary daily for their entire married life. Its really neat to go back and see what they were doing at a certain time. It also has all the current phone numbers and addresses of friends and family for that year.

Hi and thanks for the friend request...I accepted it.
I agree with you. Writing in a diary is a great way to get in touch with...and express emotions. I have kept diaries all my life and am currently using a software program called Life Journal. I like it because it has quotations that can be added and a lot of other features as well.
Interesting that you mentioned decorating. My hubby and I have been redecorating our home for the past few months. We purchased a new sofa and I had fun re-doing our great room in colors to match it. I went around the rest of the house and pulled things in similar shades from other parts of the house. I also do ceramics and hand painted some ornaments and candle holders to carry the color themes of the sofas and toss cushions to pull the room together. Great fun...good topic! Look forward to chatting again my new friend.

I still have my personal journal. My husband bought me a really pretty woven one with a butterfly on the front a few months back. I love it.
All of my other journals were destroyed so I was happy to get this one.
I alternate the color that I write in everytime I make an entry. That way all the entries don't blend together.

I do keep diaries for about...hmmm lets just say from the moment I go to school.
Writing has always been my outlet. I can even express myself freely by my writings. And I agree with you that it's really nice to reminisce on the things we do on the past.
How do I decorate my diary?
My diaries really does not look like diary its more of a scrapbook diary.
When I write on it I use some picture cutouts or dried leaves and flowers and paste them on it. I even tried to emboss some of my writing on it. Try writing on the paper/leaves using a none ink pen then color it using crayons to see what you have written. Or try using colored glue of glitter glue as your pen. I even put the picture of someone like my friend who hurt me and write anything that I want to tell him/her on it. OR sometimes if a piece of candy wrapper is connected to what I wrote I paste it on my diary. I even try to cut some alphabets and paste it one by one and compose my sentences using those. There's a lot of way you could decorate you diary just try to look around.

I Used to have a diary but my sister always read it so i stopped having one and just doodled in it. I plan to start a diary when i get my own laptop soon. I used Decorate my diary by Graffiting my name on it, using stickers, shiney stuff... Getting things that show your personality is good. Like if you were smartput a book on it, if you liked music a music note or instrument, if you like sport, some picture of sport. Also glueing in pictures of you and your friends or family, or just pictures you like, ex. sunset etc. Making it sorta like a scrapbook. It looked really cool.

i used to write a diary when i am still a teenager... but not anymore... i had stopped doing that long time ago... the reason is simple... i don't want anybody find my diary and read what is inside and hence know all my secrets... i just feel safer to keep it inside my heart and record it in my brain so that nobody will know it... i know it sounds weird... but i have a bad experience of people reading my diary before and i didn't want it to happen again... take care and have a nice day...

I don't write in it every day now but I like to keep a note about where I go and what I see, how I feel and what I do.
I destroyed all my previous diaries up to last year. I started writing a journal last year as it was the start of a new life for me and I did not want to be reminded of what had gone before. I do miss some of my old diaries though.

Its a good habit to keep a note of everything about your visits and what you saw. Its good you started writing a journal ,but in my opinion you should not have destroyed your previous diaries because that was true story of your life. Not now,may be after 10 years you would have liked to read. Anyhow don't worry!God Bless!

i know i kept a journal but i never could keep up with it. i would get board and just stop after a few weeks and then the notebook would either end up getting used for something else or sit around collecting dust.

All good things come to a sad end.Diaries I believe belong to a slowly diminishing romantic era where people wrote letters to each other and recorded their most personal feelings and emotions and opinions in diaries.Even today people do maintain diaries but mostly it would be online versions of one like blogs and so on.Thus a diary has become more public than personal.
