LOL well seeing how I'm a smoker and my kids both hate it, if I were to catch either of them smoking I'd kick their everloving behinds!

If I had a daughter who was 15 years and I caught her smoking,I would sit her down and give her a long talk about how bad it is for her,and about how she isnt old enough, and then I would ground her,and make her think about what she has done.

As a health educator, who when she becomes a mom resolves not to have tons of rules when she parents, would consider grounding said child. However, this might just make the habit more attractive (you know how adolescents rebel when they feel oppressed or put upon), so this may not be a good strategy. Good luck!

Hi There, This is a tricky one. The instant reaction is to ground them and tell them it is never allowed again. However, we both know that will only encourage them to go out and smoke again the first chance she gets. I think counselling one on one as opposed to punishment is the way to go. The pros and cons need to be laid out carefully. When she sees the cons and the very few pros, I am sure she will make the right decision. cheers,
