Have you ever known someone that made a conscious effort to be ignorant? For example, someone that decides that they don't understand something and don't want to learn, and so they ignore any explanations or help with understanding. I see it most often with politics, sexuality, technology and religion. How do you deal with it, does it make you sad or angry that some people will deliberately ignore learning new things?

I have met plenty of willfully ignorant people. The common trait they all share is arrogance. They are so friggin sure they already know every thing. They make me feel tired, they make my a** drag. I don't waste my time around people like that.
You can learn some important things from them though. Patience, self control, exit strategies, things like that.

yes, i have actually encountered a lot of people, mostly younger than me who acted as if they do not know anything about a certain thing.. i have seen it on those we teach at work, we will ask some to do some works and will act so ignorant not knowing just so they are not asked to do some extra works.
sometimes i think the younger people, mostly those who have just graduated are lazy nowadays... when i started work.. all tasks given to me i work for it and have even extended hours with my team... unlike the others now.
