Who or what wakes you up in the morning?...

I use to believe that i have this internal clock that goes off every morning... i would wake up at the same time everyday (but i hated waking up early in the morning)... without the use of an alarm clock.. so i was never late for school nor for work... But nowadays... it seems that my internal clock is no longer working... this started after giving birth to my daughter... and strengthened since i don't really have a specific time of going to work... so now... my daughter is the one who wakes me up in the morning... she sleeps earlier than me... since i only get the household chores done when she is asleep... So every morning... she lightly slaps me... or kisses my face until i open my eyes and kisser her back... and that would bet between 6:30 to 8 in the morning... So... how about you... who or what wakes you up in the morning?...

We have our alarm clock set every 530 in the morning since my husband works every 6 am, so when he is taking a shower I will prepare his tea, the clothes that I ironed the night before and started to fix the bed! It's not hard for me to stand up that early since I also used to work 6 am, but, even now that I am not working, I can't go back to sleep after that time! But, when no alarm, hard to be on time!LOL!

Yea, I grew up in a place where we need to wake up early to fetch water and do things manually aseretdd!LOL, It was my training ground! Quite hard but no choice before so we learn to love and adopt it!

You still fetch water?... that is quite difficult... i thought people don't do that anymore because of the prevalence of running water... but i guess i am wrong... i hope you don't fetch water anymore... thanks for the response...

My 9 month-daughter would usually wake me up at 6 am. She doesn't cry but would only touch me gently on my face. There was even a time that I was startled because the very moment I opened my eyes, I saw her eyes leveled on mine. I was startled but was very happy. I was an early riser but my biological clock also changed when I had my first daughter. MAybe because we were exhausted that our body is catching up.

I guess losing one's internal clock is quite common for new mothers... i just hope mine will comeback when my baby starts going to school... or else she will always be late... thanks for the response...

I have to wake up early because my child will be attending morning class starting next month. Oh well, that's the fate of being a mother.

i used to wake up by myself too! i thought it was a biological clock or something. i would wake up automatically almost the same time everyday. that was when i was still a student. i use an alarm clock only when i have important appointments (but not school). and also during my first work when i didn't have to get up on a certain time. i could get up anytime and go to work at any time. but when i started going to office on a fixed time, i started using an alarm clock. i don't know why. i guess it is to force me to wake up and remind me that i can't afford to get late at times that i'm feeling lazy. ^__^;;

When there is no pressure to wake up... we seem to wake up at the same time everyday... that is also in my case right now... my baby wakes me up at the same time... except when she sleeps late at night... i hate being forced to wake up early... i start resenting my job when that happens... thanks for the response...

That is such a pleasant way to wake up, aseretdd! I believe that our lifestyles determine to a large extent our sleeping and waking patterns. When I was much younger I [ialwaysi depended upon an alarm clock to wake me, however, as I aged I find it easier to wake up on my own. I keep my radio tuned to a talk station at a low volume and it is usually what wakes me up in the mornings.

That is a good idea... except that here in my country... losing electricity in the middle of the night when one is sleeping is quite common... so a digital alarm clock would always be affected... and i agree with you... our lifestyles certainly determine our sleeping and waking pattern... thanks for the response...

I guess my internal alarm clock must be what wakes me in the morning. I never set an alarm and I very seldom sleep in. But in saying that, today is the first time in about a year, that I slept in . Not by a lot, I should have been up by 7:30 and I didn't get up till 8:15. I should have been on the road by then. So I was about half an hour late today. But it doesn't matter, as I am self employed and it just meant I had to work a little later in the day, to get everything done. o instead of being home by 3 pm I was home at 3:30. I even wake up by 7:30 am on the weekends but I don't always get out of bed then. Sometimes I will go back to sleep for another hour or two, but not very often. I am a morning person and I don't, can't, stay up late at night.

Well, i am not a morning person... and i think my baby is also not one... since we usually wake up at 8 am... good thing you are self employed... so you control the time when you need to go to work... in my case... my work hours are flexible... so i don't get late as long as i get to work before lunch time... thanks for the response...

My alarm clock has to wake me up in the morning. I am really a night person, so I tend to stay up really late at night and then sleep really late in the morning. That means if I have to wake up early, then I am in trouble! lol I can easily sleep through classes or work on accident if I don't have my alarm set. When I am with my husband (we don't get to be together much because of his career and my college), then he always wakes up much earlier than me, so sometimes I will hear him and wake up also.

For single individuals... the alarm clock is the most common wake up call... but for married ones... it is the partner's movement in the morning... which i think is okay... we cannot always linger in bed longer than we have to... thanks for the response...

It would be the... sun! I hate it when sunlight filters in through the lousy blinds. Irritate the daylight out of me and spoil my sleep.

Oh... so you are not a morning sun person... so i think your bedroom should be situated in the afternoon sun direction... so that the first rays of the sun will not bother your sleep... i used to live in such an apartment... and i would always wake up at around 9 am... thanks for the response...

Usually my husband wakes up earlier than me. And his behavior will wake me up sometimes. Besides, my cellphone will also wake me up twice. I set it ring in two different time and make sure I have to wake up at last. I love China

im a single person and always have an alarm clock beside me, set it before my late hours at night.. but you know its not the alarm that wakes me up. when it rings my eyes open but then all a sudden get to sleep again.. and after a while just rushing up because im already late at work.. i know this is a bad habbit that i have to overcome.. going to sleep early is the best thing but i cant leave my energy at work during my late hours..

A lot of people tend to do that... wake up when the alarm rings... then go back to sleep again... my sister is like that until now... but i must agree that there is a need for you to sleep a little early at night... just to regain that energy lost... thanks for the response... and welcome to mylot...

what wakes me up in the morning is the alarm clock. My husband usually set the alarm at 6am. It wakes me up but everytime the clock alarms he put it off and fall back to sleep again, until another 15 minutes then the clock rings again. Well, no time to stay in bed for more minutes. Sometimes our cat would wake us up by scratching the walls of our bedroom and it's so annoying this noise would forced us to wake up.

My sister is like that... after turning off the alarm clock... she would just go back sleeping... so my mother would have to wake her up again... its like she needs morethan 5 minutes to be fully awake... good thing you also have a cat that wakes you up... thanks for the response...

I used to have the best internal clock imaginable. I was amazingly able to lay in bed at night and say to myself 'I need to wake up at 5:15 tomorrow morning.' I'd repeat it several times as I laid in bed. Remarkably whenever I did that, I'd always manage to wake up almost right on the mark the next morning. (I'd still set an alarm just to be safe, but never ended up needing it.) Unfortunately though, I think either the batteries wore out or one of the mechanisms in my internal clock has gone completely haywire. Gone are the days I'm able to wake myself up like that. The cat I had growing up was the next best thing to the internal clock I had. She was pretty consistent with what time she would wake me up in the morning. I think her goal was to wake me up early enough that I'd be able to get in some snuggle time with her and still get ready for school in time. Now though, I'm sans the internal clock and my trusty cat back-up. I wake up on my own again, but with no rhyme or reason to the time. I can wake up any time from two o'clock to around quarter past four in the morning and not be able to go back to sleep again. That sure does make for some long days!

Well, no one wakes me up in the morning. I have to use an alarm. It is my most fear that I will oversleep and come late to work. However, I use my mobile phone and my son do set up his to. They call me up in different times just to en shore that I will wake up. I need to come up early, since my son do not come up without my help. And the day´s when I do work I have to be at work at seven, and he has a bus to take 07:20. And there are some things you just have to do before you go....some mornings I really do wake up before the alarm, those days are the best days.

Yeh, cellphones are god for lots of things. I also use it when I am in the kitchen and work with food or cakes. I got a new one for some time ago, but got disappointed since the sound on the alarm is not high enough for me. Some have god sounds, and some do not. But Yesterday I did get one new for my son, It is his birthday today and he needed a new one. It was a god sound in that phone, I really did wake up this morning...
