Does anyone here own a talking bird? Did you read about the lost parrot who told

someone his address? Does your talking bird know his or her address? Would your bird say it to a stranger? If your bird doesn't know it, will you consider teaching your bird its home address? It helped get the bird back home. That seemed like a neat story.

Yup I read about it, it's so cool, I have 5 cockatiels and am always trying to teach them how to talk, but they don't get it :P Keep trying though :P It would be very good to teach them their address if they will learn how to talk.

Yes I think those kind of stories are so cool. Yes I have actually read a lot and tried a lot too. It's kind of difficult for me to buy these cds because their all in English but I speak Icelandic and I'd like my birds to do the same so I have been looking for websites online to hear cockatiel say "hello" or "hi" or something we also use in Icelandic but I haven't found any. Yes I have a pair, the female is 4 years old and the male about 2 years old, they have had total of 4 babies but one has moved to another family (and the other 3 will do the same) Three of them were born in February and one in late April :) It's nice to live with them but sometimes (because they are so many) they start yelling at each other. But if I walk by and say "sushh" or something they usually stop :D

Thanks for all the information. Sounds neat. I don't know anything Icelandic, but I do watch specials that talk about Iceland once in awhile. Yes, a CD in your language(s) over there must be hard. Maybe you should make your own recording somehow. There used to be a "Say It;Play It" here that was a taperecorder on an endless loop. You could put it on and stop it when you wanted to. But it would go round and round until you got sick of it and stopped it. Wonderful discussing with you. Hope you're able to teach your birds lots of things. Glad they quiet down when you tell them to. Take care and thank you very, very much.

I love stories like that, don't you? Have you read anything about how to teach them to talk? Have you tried playing any CDs that they have for teaching parrots to talk? At the PetSmart I work in, they have all kinds of stuff to help talking bird parents. 5, wow, that's a lot of them. Are they different ages? Did you have a mating pair that had babies? What's it like to live with them? I didn't grow up with indoor birds. So I'm curious.

I think that this story is SO amazing. I don't own a bird and if I did, he wouldn't know the address. I would have never thought to teach him that at all. I bet the owners were SO happy to get him back. Maybe they need to clip his wings so he can't fly as far next time.

Yes, I read this and I thought that was really, really cool. I wanted to put the word out so that if anyone has a bird or gets one that can talk, to do the same. I bet they were happy to get him back and happy they taught him that. When we taught our dog to stop, lay down, and roll over, we never knew the dog would catch on fire, head for a dry hay field and the woods. But that's what happened, but he did follow our commands and we did save his life. So anything you teach a creature, it comes back to you, this time the creature came back!

Wow!! That is chooo chweeet! I would love to own a bird or any animal that can talk to me and know my name and the home address in case it is lost. How lucky and nice is the owner to get a bird who remember his address based on what was taught. Simply supurb and neat posting.

Thanks. Not many people would think to teach their birds that. Many people haven't taught their kids that! Yeh, it was cute, wasn't it? Thanks and take care

I picked two little bulbuls from a group of shrubs. They got hurts on their wings so I began to raise them from last summer. Now they are ok but they still deny to leave. They are enjoying to sing instead of saying something. Sometimes they hang out awhile and then back to my yard finally. Maybe they like the foods I ready for them. lol I never teach them anything. Hope they are healthy. And live as their wish.

What are bulbuls like? How do you think they hurt their wings? My parents had a very large glass window (called a picture window), it confused birds, they would often fly into it. They usually just got stunned and when they recovered would fly away. Thanks for your response and take care.
