We live in Kentucky in the United States and this morning our gas prices went up to $3.83. I heard on the news on the Today Show this morning that they are saying that the prices will be $5 per gallon in a couple of months! I cannot believe this. My daughter was just saying this morning that 8 years ago when she was almost 16 and ready to get her driver's license she said she remember saying it would be $1/gallon before she got her license. Can you believe how much it has gone up and how much more will it go up? What I am trying to figure out is what are we going to do? I know now we pick my son and daughter-in-law and their kids up as we drive down the driveway to go to church, so we carpool to church. When we go to our grand-daughter's ball games, we try to ride together as much as we can. This is getting terrible and I am already trying to think of ways to really cut back. What are you trying to do to cut back on using so much gas?

Believe it or not, in Indonesia is only $0.50/litre ($1.89/gallon). This week the government will raise the price. How much? It will be $0.65/litre ($2.46/gallon). Guess what! For two weeks, many people have protested the government. Indonesian people should read this post and see the real gas price..
By the way, 1 Litre = 0.264172052358 Gallon.

You have a way to go yet before you get to what people here in the UK have to pay which is about $8.00 / gallon (converted from £/ litre) You have enjoyed low fuel prices for so long but now it's "welcome to the real world time!"

Here in NC we hit $3.97 today. I live in a very rural area of NC where malls or walmart are an hour away. I'm shopping online for many purchases that I would normally go and pick up in person because the shipping is less than the gas I would spend driving to the store to pick the item up.
I limit my trips to town to once a week too and make a list before I go. I find that this has cut down on gas and I'm saving at the store too because I go down the list and get only what is on it -- and not all those unncessary extras.

That is what I am doing, making my list and combining all running to the store, etc when I have to go. Thanks for the post and God bless.

Same thing here in Philippines thats why I have posted this option to lower gas price
http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1525719.aspx
I guess it can contribute as long as many consumer follow this option.I did avoid purchasing gas to leading companies to contribute this campaign.

When the demand increases, and the supply is limited, the price will always go up. There is no way the price will come down, as the global demand is very high with the population at a whooping 6 billion. Its going to be $10, the only question is how fast.
The only thing we can do is to adapt.

we live in Ohio and gas here is $3.99 and it will go higher, as high as they want it to go as long as we allow it. Woman on the news they was talking to last night said let it go not going to stop her from going where she wants, with attitudes like that hell they can take it to $8.00, I do believe what Bill O'reily said on fox news until we stop buying to just run the roads, and only buy what we need and have to have they will continue to raise the prices. He said that if everyone just took one sunday and stayed at home and didn't buy any gas it would put a hurting in the oil company pockets, it would show them we are getting tired of this.
But too many people think they have to be at the mall everyday and there was a news report on tv last night that said we have all kinds of oil stored right here in the usa, why aren't we using it?
I'm sorry for the wildlife but when there is oil to drill and use right here in the usa then we should be drilling for it move the animals or what ever, while I love animals which is more important that animal or sick people being able to buy gas to get to a doctor or and buy food. We have to stop it,and unfortunately we can't get enough people to stick together to not buy it one sunday, so they will keep raising it till most of us can't afford to buy it. It hurts the little folks not the washington big shots, I know we have quit going any where, out of $20. you don't get much in the truck i have, I don't have an option to trade it in, it is paid for and we live on a limited income so we just sit at home.

Staying at home is the option we will be taking also. Yes if everyone would not buy gas on one particular day it would show the big shots that we meant business. Thanks for your post and God bless.

Here is central PA, one station went up from 3.75 yesterday to 3.85 today. Now, we all know that gas is going up but is it really necessary to raise the price because of a holiday? I have been driving much less for the past month, due to my misfortune of having an injury occur while I was at work, and I'm off at the least til June 23rd. About the only driving I do now is to therapy, and I try to do any other errands, grocery shopping, etc. at the same time. As for being able to carpool, we all live in different directions so that isn't even a possiblity. I'm sure we'll all do whatever it takes.

I am sorry for your injury and hope you are mending okay. Yes, carpooling isn't for everyone. My husband cannot carpool to work because he works odd hours so we will cut wherever we can find places. Thanks for the post and God bless.

Well all this time I didn't realize that you are practically my neighbor. I live in Indiana! I saw gas here for 3.99 this morning. I try not making extra trips when not necessary. I use to put $5 of gas in my car now I have to put 5 gallons of gas in my car at a time. And everytime I go, it cost $1 more than the last time.

i think it is despicable and there is no excuse for it. our government could do something about this if they really cared or wanted to. i am sure they are lining their pockets. there was an email going around saying that everyone should boycott exxon/mobil as they are the big one and if they get boycotted and are not doing any business they will be forced to lower their prices and the others will have to follow suit. we are doing it here in nj but the word really needs to be spread and people have to stick to it.

Yes that word does need to get out. I wonder what all gas stations exxon/mobil supply. Well, what I was trying to say is if there are other covenient stores, gas stations besides the names exxon and mobil. LOL I tried to straighten that out. Thanks for the post. God bless.

There was an analyst that is predicting that the price of gas was going to keep on going up till it hits 12 bucks a gallon, hubby heard that on the radio today.
I know we are all worried about the gas as we should be, but in the winter time I am totally screwed because I also heat my house with oil. I already looked into conversion and it will cost me 7 thousand which I do not have.
This is when it would be smart for electric companies to kick in and say okay we will pay for the conversion and get all that extra money. I am sure everyone would switch over to avoid the oil situation. Even if they added 50 dollars to your bill every month it beats the hell outta paying the amount for oil.
I have no idea what we will do if the gas prices keep on going up I only work 15 minutes away which isnt bad but I have mandatory meetings weekly which is 40 miles away and I must use my car to run errands for the individuals I take care of.
Here we show terrorism in a whole new form.. they do not hit us with biological weapon but destroy and control our financial future.

That's still cheaper than here in Holland. At the moment we are paying 1.60 euro for a liter. (a euro is worth more dan a dollar and a liter is way less than a gallon)
1)I make sure the air pressure in my tires are correct.
2)I don't drive with any heavy things if it's not necessary.
3)And most important of all I don't use the car unless I really need to go someplace I can't go by foot.

Last summer when we moved here, we cut down on a lot of our extra trips. My husband drives 20 miles one way to work every day. There's no one that he can carpool with right now, but one of the guys he works with will be moving to our town next month, so we are really excited about the carpooling option!
As far as the driving my son and I do, it's minimum. My husband's truck isn't running all that great right now, so he takes the van to work most days anyway. My son and I don't go anywhere that we can't walk during the week. Twice a month, on the weekend, we all go to base and do our grocery shopping. If there is anything we need from Walmart, Target, the mall, etc, we go ahead and drive the extra 10 miles to town. We try to limit that to just once a month, though. Anything that we need in between grocery trips, my husband goes and gets. The commissary is less than a mile out of his way where he works now. When he works at the other shop, he drives right by it.
We ate out at least 2-3 times a week when we lived on base. Now we tend to eat out about that many times a month. Sometimes 4-5, but that's it. If we aren't already on base or in the bigger town, and we really want to eat out on a Saturday morning/early afternoon, we just walk to the local cafe. That's really about it.

If the gas prices were 3.83, the lines here would be way down the road. I got home from work on Wednesday and the price was 4.01, Thursday morning, not even 10 hours later it was 4.09! Big Ouch!
I need to get gas on my way in today...I am very afraid!

I think the gas stations here don't know what to do about the most recent jump. I just checked and prices for regular range anywhere from $3.85-$3.99, and diesel is over $5 in some places...and all this within a 20-25 mile radius!
When I was 17 I could fill my 12 gallon gas tank from as empty as I dared get it with $11. That was only less that 12 years ago. I don't know what we can do. There is nothing within walking distance of our house...at least not with little ones at home, I wouldn't mind a 4 mile walk once in a while but not with the boys.

Gas prices are totally too high and we have to stop buying it or they will continue to abuse the cost and profit that they are getting! It is time to go to horse and buggy, bicycles, etc. I have already told my husband that I want to buy a bike and start riding it as much as I can.
I have also cut out all extra trips. I hate the fact that my kids and I can't do things that we want to do,but we can't afford the gas to do it.
My daughter has a smaller car than mine so we use it for most of the errands that we have to do. I also am having my check sent direct deposit to the bank so that I eliminate that trip too.

Our gas in Florida went up to $3.99 yesterday. The only thing that I've been able to cut down on is the Saturday routine my daughter and I had of going to Walmart to do our weekly shopping. We've been doing most of our shopping at the local grocery store in the little one horse town we live in. Weekend trips to the beach have been cut out and instead of towing my husband's harley behind our truck when we go up north this summer on vacation, we'll be renting a car and leaving the bike at home.

We live in MS and gas is $3.81 and diesel is $4.57. Between groceries and gas we are going in the hole. I am afraid it is just going to keep on going up. People can't live with the same pay and the cost of living that is going up daily.
