Facebook was great until I realised that I hate spam

Facebook is a great concept, really it is. I love the modular design and the way that anyone can write and upload an application but I think it has reached the point where it is just a breeding ground for spam. Who here has added an application only to find that it needs you to add 20 other people before it does something marginally useful? What about the hundreds of invites to the same useless applications? What about the chain letters that fly from wall to wall perpetuated by the stupidity of the common man?
Is anyone else sick of Facebook?

The only reason I use Facebook is to play games! :) I play Scrabulous and MindJolt Games and that's the long and short of it. To be honest, the last thing I've done on Facebook other than these games was declare that I was dating my boyfriend, and that was 9 months ago. :)

I like to play games on Facebook as well. Especially the multiplayer kind where you play against people on your friends list. I remember for quite a while I played chess except the games took a long time and when people were losing sometimes they just stopped playing. That annoyed me immensely.

I just joined Facebook a couple of months ago, so I'm not sick of it yet. I do hate the applications that do not let you do anything until you invite people. Those I delete without even bothering. I admit I am sometimes guilty of spamming my friends with invites, but I try not to do it more than once. The majority of my Facebook friends (with the exception of some people I met playing the Simmbook application) are real life friends. A few of them are clearly not interested in the invites, so I don't send them to them.
If you are concerned about email spam, you can set each application so that it does not send you emails. Of course you will still get the notifications though.

Like so many things on the Internet, it seems great for a while but eventually it just gets boring and you get sick of it. Just wait and see.

I have a facebook account and a MySpace acct. I don't have friends on either account that I don't know. If I get a friend request and I don't know you, it gets denied.
My MySpace account is all old friends from school and family. My Facebook is all school friends and my mother in law; thats it. I haven't gotten any spam.
I don't realy get on to either one unless I have new pictures to upload or I get an email notification that someone has sent me a message.

I am getting tired of Facebook AND Myspace (see how they are trying to be like Facebook now?).
I rarely go there. I only belong because it's a way to stay in touch with some people I know and I also have a site in memory of my son that I keep going.
