Reason(s) for earning money online

I started participating in online earning since last week. I've tried many popular ways of earning such as PTC, PTR, PTP, completing surveying, surfing, searching and uploading pics. Although I felt quite tired throughout the week by clicking ads repeatedly, I am still interested in it. I asked myself: What's the point to earn online money? I do have a stable income from my job and the money I can gain online is so little...
For me, it is not just about the money I can earn, but also about satisfaction. Upon I've invested my time on online earning, I can see some obvious changes gradually, which could be an increasing revenue or even just an increase in the number of referral, and I like this feeling.
How about you? Why do you earn money online? Is it only about revenue?

Hi jickyeung
I don't earn a stable income in the real world, so earning online helps. I'd like to reach a stage where I'm earning more of my income online, but I appreciate that that will take time. For now, I'm happy to have earned over $700 online so far this year from freelance writing.
take care...and good luck.

Hey, how did you manage to make $700 a year from free-lance writing? Which site do you use to get this type of money?
Yes, not having a stable income is rough. So you have find ways to creating income for yourself and the most interesting place is to do it online where you have access to the rest of the world as your market place.

jickyeung - I keep a monthly spreadsheet of my earnings and I added up what I'd made through freelance writing since January this year, and that's how much I've made so far. Looking at it that way made me truly appreciate what I've achieved. It also re-focused me.
If you like writing and you're fairly good at it, it can be a good income source.
tigertang - How did I manage it? By putting myself out there, I guess. I use the Digital Point forums to secure writing opportunities. I've recently written a review on it on my blog. You'll find my web address in my profile.
take care...

I earn money online, because it helps me feel like I am contributing money to my family's finances, while still allowing me to stay home with my 2 year old. The money that my husband makes from his job is enough to cover all of our basic expenses. We just use the money that I make online to pay down debts, save for Christmas, birthday, anniversary, etc presents, and to have a little bit of extra spending money for things like movies, video games, eating out, etc. It really works out well for us, because it allows us to budget my husband's money much more closely, without worrying that we might go ahead and buy something that will set off our whole budget.

Thank you for the best response!
I don't know that I would really continue to do some of the stuff I do online if I was only going to be making $5.00 each month. I'm in the United States, though, so it's easier for me to find legitimate paying things to do online. I make around $300-350 each month just in things I do online, that aren't contracts (I write some articles for a magazine sometimes, too, so that adds to the money I make those months).

Thanks for your reply. It's great that online money can let you buy the things you want as well as giving you the feeling of contributing to your family's finances. This was also one of my intention. But now I just wonder if the cash will be helpful (I don't even expect I will earn more than $5.00 a month~)
Have a nice day!

I feel that in the long-run, if you make yourself a good enough system and build yourself even just a decent downline you can make out pretty well through the internet. Of course this isn't all i'm planning on doing is sites like this. I want to run a few online businesses & start some freelance projects I have in mind & all together I should be making fairly good money & all the while I should still have time for a job outside of the internet! That, and of course it's not just for the money you can earn but for the experiences & new friends you can make which keeps me here! Not to mention you can find topics about just about anything! If you want to like I mentioned in that other discussion, I could seriousllyy hook you up with some nice sites & maybe even some great methods in order to optimize your earnings as much as possible! =D

Honestly for me, the main reason is extra income. It doesn't hurt to have an extra money while I'm sitting here in the office and being online for the whole 8 hours.
I could use some extra cash as part of our savings.

I earn money online, because I am a student, so my stereotype I have no money lol. The year is coming to the end so my £30 a week EMA is soon coming to an end as is the £10 my Mam gives me for food, so I will be living off savings and the £8 my Dad gives me as I finding it hard to get a job as I have no work experience. So the money I earn online is so that I can still buy things that I want and go out with my friends as well as saving to go to Uni in two years time.

Thanks for your response. IPod is too expensive. You probably need to earn for several months in order to gain the money you need to buy an IPod.~

Hello Subha. I enjoy the people and discussions here, too. About not being paid, did you join sites with higher reputation? You were so unfortunately. I knew there are some legit sites that pay, but just ned to take 2 to 3 months. I hope this is your case...

I like the idea of making money online but the question of why do I do it is a very good one! I too have very good job with enough benefits to cover my whole family. The idea of of making more income online gives me an extra little edge to do things that give me even more leverage. Instead of a lot of different programs I try to concetrate on just a few and have an objective for each one:
There is one that I use that awards me gift cards that I cash in around December to take advantage of the clothing sales at the mall in January.
Another I use to gain web traffic for my website.
Another I am using to put into investments so I can have even more for the future.
Online cash is such a cool thing. Why wouldn't everyone want to take a few minutes a day to earn some?

kingcrapper, you are well planned. As far as I can see people who can earn real money have well planning for how to earn and how to spend.

Thanks for your reply. I have the same feeling as you. For me, I rarely have chance to practice my English when working. MyLot is a good way to practice both reading and writing skill in my leisure time. About earning money, this was my intention. But after I realized that I couldn't earn real money online, I am less ambitious than before :-).

People think that earning online money is easy but my buddy it take a lot of effort.
First of all there are so many scams on net therefore u have to work out the genuine programs on net.
After that u have to give time to find the right programs for u.
After that u will get some dollars for ur efforts.

Earning online is definitely the big reason I do things online. I don't work, even though I've thought about places I can apply to. I do a lot of things at home that no one else will do. People are pushing for me to be home more often so since I am home, I can do things around the house and help out here a lot. When I'm not doing things around the house, I can come online and earn some money. It all sort of balances out really.

tigertang - Thank you. You probably spoke most participants' minds. From the discussions I can see most people don't regard Internet as a source of earning real money. Most of them, including me, regard it as a way to earn extra pin money. I think this is good. We can't invest too much time on online earning. If not it may affect our regular jobs and daily life. For me, if the earning programs take only an hour a day to complete, and if I can gain something like a chance to practice my writing, it's worth. ;-)

I think in everyone's mind, deep down inside we're searching for a niche business.
We are looking to see how far this can lead to, how deep the Rabbit Hole goes...
The Internet provides a hope that maybe not now, but in the future, we may find an escape from the daily routine of a 9 to 5 job (J.O.B. - Just Over Broke).
We are staying tuned to the net awaiting the next big opportunity for us to cash in on.
