I like to used credit card. For me, credit card was practical to used than cash. I never like to had much money in my wallet. With credit card I can bought anything and did not had to carry cash. Not to mention, you can always paid your bills next month instead now and gain some points or special discount with it.
Of course I always treat credit card as cash. So if I bought lets say a shirt for $10, i make sure I had $10 in my account to pay the card next month.
If I didnot had any money to spent, I did not used my credit card. Thats the way to avoid the debt credit card problem and the high interest of credit card. But of course its easy say than to be done. I did not had any credit card debt so far.
what about you?

Yep, same here. I much prefer using credit card for paying my monthly needs and for whenever I go shopping. If you use it wisely you'll get a lot of benefits from using credit cards.
1. Cash backs
2. redeemable points
3. huge discounts and offers
4. More money stays in your bank account each month so you get more interest.
but I admit sometimes I get carried away when I go shopping with my credit card

yona, we are very much the same in here. Finally! I agree with all the benefits you stated above. Maybe we should write something about this in our own blog.
I will also raise the number 4 points. Its do really in our benefit if like example we want to buy a Tv that cost $1000 or more. we pay by credit card and we can at least had one month interest of $1000 in our bank account.
If we used ths card cleverly, we can even pay that bill after 50 days of purchasing the TV. The key is too timing your buying. Check when was the time your credit card statement got printed.
Example: Printed on 8th each month. And your last day payment had to be at 28th each month .That mean if you bought goods like TV at May 8 2008, you had at least 56 days before you need to pay off the bill. Yes, your due date for that bill will be at June 28 th.
If you had that money in your bank account when you bought the TV. You can have 56 days of the money interest first. You earn some points and it will be pretty sweet if you buy that at discount price.
Heck, I am not bad at this card thing.

I really enjoy using credit card and it has becomes a must to bring with me daily. Besides paying for daily grocery, dinner, shopping, the most important factor of having credit is when i need to do my trading business. It has becomes very convenience.
Imagine, every 3-4 days, you need to go to distributor to buy your customer order ranges from hundreds to thousands. It will be so much inconvenience, if you have to go to bank and withdraw cash prior to every purchase.
Besides, there are 30 days free interest become the credit card payment due. This is one of the benefits for internet business as customer money did not went into our bank account straight, it will go to paypal, and there is 5-7 days to withdraw the cash. Thus, having credit card, I won't be rushing for pre-order or advance payment as we have enough time to withdraw that money and pay our credit card bill a month later.
Credit card is by far, one of the greatest invention in the world!

Hi serena,
Very good explanation about credit card advantage specially if you need them to make big transaction. cause went to bank each time to withdraw big money specially in jakarta, was not wise choice. If you time your crecit card use wisely, you can even had more than 50 days of free interest from the card. But it depend on the card company policy.

Yeah I have some credit card debt. I had to buy some books for college and I needed them right away so I used a credit card. But a credit card is kind of better because you don't have to carry so much cash around. If someone robs you and takes all your money then that hurts deeply. But if someone steals your credit card you can easily cancel it.

i prefer to pay cash. using credit card, we have to pay the interest; it's about 4%. well, you can use debit card instead of credit cash if you just don't want to have much money in your wallet.

sutan, you pay 4% permonth if you had a debt with them. If you pay your all your transaction 100% you will not get any interest fees. Debit card is worst than credit card.
Once I used a debit card and the machine card had an error. So i canceled the transaction. How suprise when i check my account that they charge me for the transaction. i file a complain and have to wait for 2 months before the bank refund my money.
It will not happen into credit card. Cause your money will not be debit from your account instantly. The error transaction will be in pending. And if they didnot receipt any ticket transaction from the dealers, they will cancel that pending and did not put that transaction in our statement.

You sound like you're very careful with your credit card, and that's good. I've never been tempted to have a credit card as, although I'm sure I'd be careful too, I wouldn't want to be in the position where I could possibly spend money that I didn't have. I also don't want to have additional bills in the future and not be sure of what money I actually have to spend. It sounds like it works for your though, and you've found a good method for avoiding debt.

Hi liquorice, I am indeed very careful about money. Maybe thats why i am also do a good job at managing my credit card account. My take on this if the credit card give us a lot of advantages why not try to use it for our own advantage.
Example: I once buy a DVD player + speaker with a credit card that had a promo where people can pay electronic stuff in one year without any interest in major electronic shop. So instead of paying full, I just pay a little sum each month for one year without any interest as usual from the card.

I know using credit card gets many people in trouble but it has it's advantages, if I am going to make an online purchase I will never use a debit card and have the money taken right out of my checking account, I will use the credit card because if there is a problem with he purchase I can reverse it and dispute the charge and not have to pay as opposed to loosing the money from the debit card. Many credit card companies also gives an extended guarantee on the product if it was paid using a credit card.

You are absoultely right Howard, about the debit card disadvantaged. Cause sometimes when you swipe your card, an error can happen. If it was a credit card, it usually only on pending order and will be canceled later.
But not with debit card cause your account automatically debited. I had this incident once with debit card and had to wait almost two month before the bank refunded my account for a sale I never make cause of a card swipe error.

I like to use credit cards. I haven't had any problems with creating debt, cause I always am really careful to pay off my full balance each month. I think it is a good way to build up credit now, for when I want to make bigger purchases later. Also, like you said, it is nice to be able to earn points and sometimes cashback bonuses for using credit cards. I get extra cash back, and it's deposited into my checking account each month when I use my card. It's not a lot, but it's better than nothing at least! I also like not carrying around cash all the time. I certainly wouldn't want to have a credit card stolen, but at least if it did happen, I figure I can always call immediately and have it frozen, whereas if it was cash that was stolen, then it would just be gone.

Very good of you to pay off the full balance of your card statement each month to avoid the high interest from the the card company. The extra cash back always fun. Cause though its not much per month, but when you save it up for a year, usually the amount was a decent one where I colud buy a new clothes or go to a nice restaurant with my family.

Hi There,
I have found myself get into financial trouble before by using credit cards. I woul always promise myself I would pay out what I had put on it...but never actually did. It ended up I had huge credit card debt and a lot of money was going to interest. Now I only use cash unless for some reason I am not allowed. If I end up in that situation I will use the card and then go to my bak account immediately and move money over.
cheers,

I dont like the credit card option but I use it all the time. Alot of times I dont have enough money on me to buy what I need so on the credit card it goes then I only have enough money each month to make the minimum payment so I never get teh cards paid off!

Thats the downside of credit card. tthe alluring of using it to buy things we wanted but cannot afford. Have you call the customer service and told them you can barely pay the card so asked them to let you pay without any interest Some of the card company had that policy.

I have a credit card that pays 1% back and applies it to my mortgage (house loan) so I use it whenever I can. I solve the accounting problem by entering purchases in my checkbook in red ink. When the bill comes due, I add those red figures back into my balance. That way, I never overspend and I'm not tempted to buy anything I don't really need. And I get some money applied to my mortgage!

Yes, thats what I am taling about. If we had self control and the urge to over spending. Credit card is a friend than foe. I had a credit card that pays back 1,5% for every major gorcery stores in jakarta. So its nice to have and save some money while i shop for daily goods.

i like to use my credit card than cash. Its easy way to pay the money. Usually i use the card when i dont have the enough money in my acount because once i use the card i have 50 days to pay back and within that i get my salary so no tension of debt. But one should alwayd be very careful in handling and safeguarding the card as it can be used by any one. Its a very big risk if its stolen. I do not carry the card everyday, i carry it whenever i intend to use the card.

You are right. About card can be stolen or identity theft. thats why i burn all my credit card statement isntead thrown them at the garbage. I also burn all my credit card receipts. Just to be safe. cause I read from paypal, that the scammers even check your trash for your credit card receipt and statement in order to make a new identical card as yours.

i also prefer to use credit cards rather than cash to purchase anything and to pay my bills... i have a credit card that has free annual fee for life and i can add up to 6 additional cards for no fee at all as well... on top of that, i can earn points that i can exchange for rewards or cash back... also, i have up to 55 days to pay back for my purchases... so i love it... i am similar like you... i make sure that i have the money to pay back for what i buy the following month... i don't want to end up with a credit card debt as well... the interest rate is simply ridiculous... take care and have a nice day...

It is definitely credit card for it.
I use it because it allows me to accumulate reward points.
And after that, I can exchange them for movie tickets.
So if I can use it, I would.

I use my debit card as then I know my bill is paid and
there will be no balance to worry about. it saves having
to carry a lot of cash around and maybe misplacing some
of it. credit cards are too easy to get into debt with so
I will stick to my debit card instead.
