I'm worn out and don't think I can stay up much longer. My legs are hurting, my hips are screaming and my fingers aren't finding the right keys.
I will go to bed and maybe get to sleep in 20 min. or 50 min or not at all. So I'm going to take a sleeping pill that will have me asleep in less than 10 minutes.
Do any of you ever find that you have to do this? And if so, which one are you taking?

Hiya again,
Would agree with bellapop that is a really good one to try out as Lavender is a great tranquilizer on its own.
I would however use a flower essence rather than anything else as I hate most sprays in general that are not natural.
Also Bach Rescue Remedy is a good flower essence to spray around the Room and around where you sleep and perhaps rub a little on the back of your wrists but always diluted down properly first you can get the instructions of most Bach Flower information site of how to do that.
If you have Nightmares its also a good one to use as it has a great combination of flowers that can help to calm you down in general of course it does not work right away takes about two or three hours.xxx

Where do you buy the flower essence other than online? I don't have nightmares unless I take the melatonin. That stuff helps sleep and is natural but can really produce the nightmares. Most of the time, it's just really vivid dreams but the nightmares can interject themselves sometimes.

Hiya yoyo,
If you are in the City you can usually get them in those Shops that sell all kinds of things like Herbs and New Age Music anything like that.
Never heard of that before that is very interesting.
My nightmares came from Childhood experiences and I don´t have nightmares now unless I am living under a lot of stress and even then they will never be as bad as what they were.
Flower essences when diluted are totally harmless unless you use the Orchids which they say are much more powerful and to be very careful with that is what I have been told so I only stick to the Bach ones as they are the most well known here.
When I was on the sleeping tablet I always got up more tired than before so that is what made me back out from using them ever again.xxx
Perhaps you have had a bad experience that gives you the nightmares hope they cease to be as they can be quite frightening as well I know that.xxx

Hiya yoyo,
I did at one time have to use a sleeping Tablet un prescription to be able to sleep but never again.
Thank goodness I have never used any ever.
There are People that do need to have them and I respect that but not for me thanks very much.
Although they make you sleep you don´t really feel any better the next Day sort of all fuzzed up is how I would describe it the best.
If you can get by without them even better.xxx

Hiya yoyo,
Have a great deal of respect for People who have to take tablets. My Sister in Law one of them has to take at least 25 tablets a Day as she suffered brain damage from Meningitis when she was small and she was left with having fits for the rest of her life she would not be alive without them as the fits are so bad.
Even with medication she still has them.xxx
She is normal like everyone else but for the fits which could kill her unless medicated.
I think that she is some kind of miracle to be alive with such bad fits.xxx

I usually take cammemoile tea. I took sleeping pills when I was in the hospital getting my eyes fixed and had so many nightmares that I decided not to. Most of the time it was worry about things that kept me from sleeping and of course, having too hard a mattress.

I do have vivid dreams but when I took sleeping pills, they became nightmares. I think it is because I am normally a light sleeper, and the nightmares were a catchup.

I try never to take anything medicine or tablets to get to sleep - I always worry I may never wake up! Sleep is a basic need so you shouldn't really take anything for it unless you are having serious problems. If you are that tired and exhausted there should be no problems falling asleep. You can always try some warm milk, ovaltine or Horlicks, they are very effective and more nutritious. Some light scented lavender perhaps, making sure the room is well ventilated and at the right temperature, no noise or lights. Hope this helps. :)

Back when I was working full time, sometimes I was just so tired in my body but my mind wouldn't turn off no matter what I tried short of a sleep aid. I use them less now as my activity level has decreased. But never say never. You're going to get old someday too. Thanks so much for your response.

I do take a slepping pill.I call it my sweet dream pill.Without it I would never get no sleep.Ambian if thats how you spell it is my pill of choice. It has me knocked out in about 10 mineuts also and I'm on my way to a great nights sleep. No shame of taking medication if you need it.

Ambien is the one I use too. I don't take it every night but once or twice a week when I get off schedule. If I don't go straight to bed, I fear I'll do something crazy. This med has a history of causing people to do strange things. I've seen reports of people cooking and eating full meals, driving and doing weird things after taking it and not going right to bed.
Thanks for your response. How are you finding these old discussions?

Cyclobezaprine are muscle relaxers that last 4 hours and by them selves cure me of my sleepless nights. I used to take one everynight before bed. Eventually, it was one a week and now maybe once a month.

Well, for me I do not allow myself to take any sleep aids due to being on Insulin, etc. but the nights I do find it harder to sleep due to pain, I do find myself taking some of my Prescription meds that seems to help with pain, or I will just try to relax. If it is sometimes cramps and stuff like that, I will dose up on more calcium as well.

Wow, Tina!!! What a surprise to see a response to this after so long a time and I thank you. I still do take a sleeper occasionally but am usually so tired that I can fall asleep without one. I too have to take pain medication regularly so I don't like to mix it with a sleeping pill very often. I hadn't ever heard ot taking calcium for cramps though. How did you hear about that?

Make sure that you get some rest and start fresh for tomorrow. Now if you have to take a sleeping pill then you know that your tired. I notice that this was posted 19 hours ago so I know that you should have gotten rest by now. If not rest until you feel better.

I understand. My fibro and chronic fatigue make me hurt and tired. But sometimes it's impossible to get to sleep. And then I only sleep for about 5 hours max. I used to take Nortriptolene - that helps with pain and sleeping problems. But it also puts weight on, I guess. (Something did!) Now the doc has me on Ambien CR. But I won't take it every night. Don't want to lean on it too much.

My 'script is for the Ambien CR as well. And I don't take it every night. Most of the time, I won't need it and forget that I have it available.
I could do with a little weight gain myself. I've lost 40# within the past year just from the disease and the constant pain. I'll have to investigate the Nortriptolene. Might be useful as long as the weight gain isn't from fluid retention. I already have that.

This may sound ridiculous but I have a lot of trouble sleeping most of the time and the most effective sleep aids? My dogs. I curl up with them and I'm instantly out like a light. Haha.

Its not a good idea to take a sleeping pill because it is habit forming and its after effects can be quite damaging. Besides one day you may find that even after taking it you will not get sleep, then what ?It would be better to take a glass of hot milk or cocoa befor you sleep. If you have been working hard and you are tired out then you should get sleep naturally. Sweet Dreams!!
