My father-in-law feels that a woman should not be considered being a leader in politics. He feel that she does not need to be running for president. He said that is what the bible talks about, a woman not engaging in this type of activity. What do you feel? Is this true to you? Should a woman be given the same power as a man?

Many men won't feel comfortable with a woman president. It's the old point of view. They think women aren't strong enough to be in power.
Of course a woman should be given the same power as a man!
But I think Hillary will be perceived as lacking in strong leadership skills.
As women, no matter how we feel about her, we're proud and excited that a woman has at long last, been offered the same power as men.

if she's qualified to do the job,i don't see why not.
certainly couldn't do any worse than some of the men we've had in charge.

CREAM 97...IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE THREATNING ME BY HOW YOU SAY THAT.....If I think something is stupid, than that is my opinion and I am allowed to express my opinion...I dont know what country you are in, but here where I am, it is a free country and I am allowed to think whatever I want is stupid.....and if the bible has sexist remarks in it, than I think it is a stupid book....my opinion....

Instead of lookjing for what the Bible says from the ignorant, try actually READING it. It NEVER says anything LIKE what the poster said.
You people who fling mud at the Bible, God & people such as Rush are not actually READING or LISTENING to the SOURCES; you're guilty of intellectual dishonesty!
Maybe you recall when "The Last Temptation of Christ" came out, & the Left howled at folks who condemned it without having seen it? Well THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW. You're passing on some else's opinion (which happen to be made of LIES), WITHOUT CHECKING IT OUT YOURSELF.
A pitiful waste of your life, people. Stop "mitchin' an' bonein'" and do the mental legwork required to express an HONEST, RESEARCHED opinion, instead of this sort of mental sloth you practice.
If you don't do the homework, don't gripe because no-one takes your opinions as credible.

I think a woman can make a good president, just not this particular woman who is now running for the office. She would be a disaster, in my opinion. But I think if she doesn't get the nomination there's going to be a stink the size of which nobody's ever seen.
I also hope the other democratic candidate makes it to the convention--there's an awful lot of mention of the assassination of Robert Kennedy and I'm just afraid someone doesn't want Obama to make it. The Clintons aren't above murder and blackmail to get what they want.

"The Clintons aren't above murder and blackmail to get what they want."
I'd never tell anyone they didn't have the right to say what they think but that is way out there, way over the top! Allegations and accusations of that kind aren't right no matter who they're directed at. You must be listening to Sean Hannity and D1ck Morris too much!

I don't listen the Hannity and never heard of the other guy.
Perhaps it was a bit over the top but I'm not the first to have said it and probably won't be the last. But you're right, there's no proof and it was a nasty thing to say.

You ought to ask your father-in-law, if God didn't want women to be leaders, why did Deborah lead Isrel in the Bible? (Judges 4:4)
The US is behind so many other countries who have had women leaders - presidents and prime ministers. It's about time.
I doubt that Hilary is going to make President, but I'm glad that a woman has come this far. The next time, with a woman more qualified, perhaps it will really happen.

Yes in my part a Woman now a days if you would see on the other side, The woman now a days are more courageous with strong personality with less corruption if I would not be mistaken in my view so I agree to give them a chance to run as a President...

I think you could do a lot worse than a lady president.
Give it a try. She can't be much worse than what you've got already!
I was sceptical at first about Margaret Thatcher as Prime Minister of UK but she turned out to be very good till the end.

Wow, no offense to you but what cave did your father-in-law grow up in? If this is a sample of what some people get from reading the Bible that only makes me glad I haven't based my life on it since while it's called "God's Word" it was written by MEN - very chauvinistic men at that! NO, it's not true to me and YES a woman should be given the same "power" as a man!

This is an old fashioned point of view. He is entitled to it of course. Many people I am sure feel the same way. But I look at it like this. A woman cannot do any worse for the country than some of the men. Besides, there have been more than a few great woman leaders. The USA is behind the times.

I don't know if I support Hilary for President or not but it's not because she is a woman. I think women are highly capable of doing anything they want to. There is no reason why a woman cannot lead, teach, or do anything that have traditionally been a "man's" job.

Ill say i dont like it a bit. Women have their roles over the community. But being the president of United States. No way! Imagine following the orders of a woman. Imagine thousands of men soldiers following the order of a woman. Its sick. I dont think she should be elected. Because its not a womans job, and even though some are voting just to see how well she does i dont think its worth the risk. Some say it will reduce wars by giving the presidency a woman. It may even increase. Or she might not be strong enough to support the country and America might be invaded if she is not careful. No need to give her any vote. Obama is much better. Hez got style :P

I think every woman has the right to become a leader of ones own country..Women should be given equal rights on what a man can do. In the present times Women can do most of the things men can do. Here in my country our President is a woman. I am married and I am the one who works while my husband a male species just laze around doing nothing although he's my driver. Lots of women now a days are more responsible than men are. Nothing against the Males but this is just my point of view.

wow.. he must think that bush is doing a great job out there.. hehehe... personally, i don't see any difference.. the only problem is that most people there think backwards which is impractical at modern times. i'm not saying i want hillary to win. all i'm saying is that, platforms should be the basis, the mind and capaity should be the basis. not one's race, gender, or status in life.

I respect your father in law's view. But, world has changed a lot. Now you will see tons of Pastors getting involved in politics. They should keep away from politics. Secondly, not one of these Pastor ever talk about Hillary is doing anything wrong. In my opinion, women should have equal powers as men. If not...then WHY?

Yes, the world has changed... I believe that my fil wants to feel as if he is on top, and that the woman is beneath. But what he has to understand is that, his life is his... He can't expect life to be like how he is living his.. People don't think the same thing as he does.. He has to understand that.. If Hillary gets elected as president... I want to see what he will do then...

Unfortunately, there are just enough men out there who feel like your father-in-law, to ensure that we will probably see a female president in our lifetime. Some men are still bitter that women have the same rights that they do.
This does not mean I would vote for a candidate simply because she is a woman; however, I do feel a woman can have the ability to be a political leader just as well as a man.

Does your father-in-law actually think that? I can't understand someone thinking like this because I don't see a big difference between a man and a woman. Why would a woman be less capable of being a good leader?
I personally don't get people who say a woman should not be running for president. When it comes to something like this, people should not be judging because of gender or race or whatever, they should be looking at personality, ideas, opinions...
I myself as a woman think it's really unfair that some people actually think that woman are not made to engage in activities such as these. It's like they mean that women are less useful, like they are only capable of taking care of children, cooking and things like that...

Did he forget all the female leaders up until now, not in our country, but around the world? Women are not leaders, as much, because men have kept them that way, but they are breaking out and it's about time!
I won't vote for a women, just because she is a women, but if a women shows me she can do it, or a man, then that's who I will vote for.
You FIL comes from such a brain-washed, earlier time period. Does he realize how many HUGE corporations are run, successfully, by women? He needs a little education!! LOL
