Do you really think that teachers really do help their students with learning?

As parents, we can sometimes tell if a child is learning anything in class or not.. If your child comes back home with the things that he/she has learned in school, then you know that they are being taught by the teacher. How do you feel about this?

I think that teachers are teaching students. The thing is that students also have to make an effort to listen and to let it sink in. There are times when students learn differently than others though so they should speak up. But if they aren't listening than how are they going to learn. My sister didn't know how to do her homework and when I went to talk to the teacher the teacher had taught that already. And why didn't my sister know? Because instead of listening she was busy talking with one of her friends. So both parties have to put in an effort.

Sometimes kids need to be taught to listen. Sounds odd to some people because they think it is an inborn thing we all have the ability to do. Listen involves more than just hearing what is said. Listening is an interactive process and the process is very important.

Well if your trying to say that my mother didn't teach my sister to listen than your wrong. My mother raised all of us good and she taught us well. My sister's problem is that she does know how to listen but she doesn't want to. There are a lot of kids that don't want to use what their mothers has taught them. My sister thinks that she doesn't need to listen to people but people do need to listen to her. And not everyone is the same because nobody taught me how to listen. I taught myself because I know that if I want to someone to listen to me than I should also listen to that person talk first.

I would never have said that about your mom. I don't know your mom or your sister. Some students just need the process taught to them more specifically than others who seem to pick it up on their own. While you believe you taught yourself, I assure you, you learned it by having it modelled for you by someone.

It depends on the teacher or child. You do still have some great teachers out there that will do whatever it takes to teach a child to the best of their ability. But if the child has a learning problem, the teacher may think the child either doesn't want to learn and sometimes writes them off. Sometimes the teacher does notice the child does want to learn, but something is holding them back. But because the teacher is unable to teach that child one on one, he/she is not able to teach the child really the way they want. Also, a lot of teachers have to deal with the school system. Some school systems just want high test scores and it tends to tie the teachers hands to reach out to that child.
I may come back in a bit to discuss this a little futher, but need to go for a bit.

It is the teachers who actually help students understand their lessons. Besides teachers play a big role in motivating students to be more active.
I started my professional career as a home tutor, and from my personal experience I know that a teacher can generate a sense of quest/curiosity in the mind of students, which accelerates the learning process. Obviously, it is the student who needs to learn finally.

As a former teacher myself, I sure hope that teachers are helping students learn. I believe parents would know this better than anyone. Parents really must remain a part of their childs learning process for this very reason.

we sent our children to school to learned, of course with the help of their teachers, the knowledge gain by the child is matter on the performance of their teachers. if the teachers did her/his task to educate their students the result is excellent but because nowadays teachers can't teach the students much because one classroom has 60 students specially in third world countries, teachers can't manage this huge number of students and we can't blame them if they can't impart the exact knowledge to our children.

Learning from teacher,Do students get the really help with their teacher? This issue has been brought into focus.Teacher is an angle who gives the konwledge to students, but obviously they also have disadvantages and these disadvantages will come up automatically by the teachers. In my opinion, teachers do help with students learning while they can affect students in some aspects.
Maybe you can choose teachers, whom you think are the best,to teacher your children. But you cant choose the time when their disadvantages turn out,in the class or after school. The only thing you can do is making an good example to your children.Let your children themselves decide which to learn or not.
Best wishes to your family!

I think that there are good and bad teachers. Teachers that are helpful and those that just go through the motions. That can be said of any career. It is just more important as parents for us to pay closer attention. I think for the most part yes teachers are beneficial to students.

I think that most teachers do their jobs pretty well
but the children also must listen and help out as
the teacher cannot do it all. the child must listen
and absorb what he or she is being taught. the
parents can also help by quizzing the kids ocassionally
about what they have learned too. and seeing that
all homework is being done on time.

That is true, but there are cases where teachers teach and some kids dont learn much.
I've seen this with my oldest nephew, he never did homework and his grades were bad. And everytime my sister asked if he had any homework he'd say my "teacher didn't give us any" well this didn't sit well with my sister so on parent teacher day she asked his teacher about it, come to find out they got homework assignments everyday except Fridays. He just never did most of his work and this was why he had such bad grades. On the other hand i was personally told by a teacher that it was not her problem if my child passed or failed her class, she'd still be paid at months end, this was after i had asked her why my son always failed her class.. I believe that there are good teachers that go above and beyond, but there are also teachers that look at teaching as a means to an end.

I know the teachers at my children's schools were not. This is why I pulled them out and began homeschooling them. My youngest was in 5th grade at the time. I begged them to test his reading level because I knew he was struggling. They continuted to tell me not to worry, he was fine. About a week after I pulled him out I got him tested myself. He was at a 3rd grade reading level and just barely at that. I had him tested again at the end of the year, after I had been homeschooling for a half a year, and he was up to the correct level.
This is just one of the many reasons that I continued to homeschool my children to this day.

I think sometimes there are better teachers out there that will go the extra mile . However, each studet will learn in a differnt way . I think if a child comes home and shares what they have been taught then you should not worry .When I was younger the first thing I would do when i got home was talked about things that i enjoyed . Sometimes , I would lean new things , but didnt wanna talk about i because it was a bore .
