Well, there are people who skips dinner. They said, it is good for our stomach to rest at night time. There are others who just eat a light meal. Most people avoid a heavy meal at night time.
Do you agree that 2 meals in a day is good for our health and would give break for our stomach to have heavy work while we are resting at night?
Well, ideas from health experts are most welcome. Well, anybody who can share their helpful thoughts are needed.
thanks

2 Meals in a day is still good. You can divide it evenly into small meals though. This makes your stomach full for the entire day. As for dinner, I do skip dinner for weight loss purposes. I agree that breakfast should be the heaviest since it will give you energy the whole day. However, it depends on the lifestyle of the person. I work late nights thus, I must have lost the notion of breakfast, lunch, dinner.

You have good points. Right!! it depends upon the kind of work we have and the time we are eating.

I tend to skip lunch lately. I have been taking diet pills prescribed by the doc. I make sure I eat breakfast b/c if I don't I will not be hungry enough to eat later. That is why I skip lunch. I'm not hungry. I have been taking my lunch break at 9am to go tan, so I don't eat then. I usually get a soda from Sonic. Then at lunch I may be a teensy hungry so I might eat something very small. Usually nothing tho. Then when I get off work at 3pm, I'm a little hungry so I eat something. Then at supper time, I'm not hungry again. So I guess I'm really skipping tons of meals. But I believe in the eat 6 small meals a day thing.
I've always heard you shouldn't eat past a certain pt in the eve, but I don't believe that. I think it's what you eat, not what time. If you a bunch of junk, yes your stomach is going to feel heavy and all that. If you eat some fruit, not so much.
Hope my post is helpful.

well, yes there are people who use to eat a little every 2 hours. I am not sure if that is also included ni a good health practice but at least you are putting something into your stomach when you feel hungry.
Thanks for the reply.

I have sometimes skipped my dinner because I was just too busy doing something to eat. But then later I will eat something very light, like a salad. I don't like to eat after 7pm though as it is harder to burn off later at night. I very seldom eat a heavy meal at any time of the day. I like to keep my meals light as I am dieting and losing weight successfully. I eat only a protein and a salad for dinner, hardly ever do I eat any carbs because that is where we get most of our fat on our bodies from, carbs, as they take a long time to digest and the calories then don't get processed fast so our bodies feed off of the sugar in them. It takes a lot more exercise to wear carbs off. So I just try to stay away from them.

oh!! so you are conscious with your diet because you want to lose weight? that;s good but don't skip meals even when you are in a diet because that is not the proper way to lose weight. Eat light meals is really good for health.

I am not an expert but I heard and read that it is good for health to skip dinner once in a week. One should not take a heavy dinner after 7 o'clock in the evening. Have a very light dinner and be healthy. Another important thing is that one should not sleep with a heavy stomac after a heavy dinner. Sleep atleast after two hours of having dinner. If you eat some thing late, your body can not digest them properly since the metabolism gets down during night when you rest or sleep.

Though skipping dinner once in a while is good for health there are people who should not skip meals. Those who are pregnent should not skip meals since they and the featus inside need nutrition always. People who got diabetes, cancer, TB, kidney problems and liver diseases should not skip food.

Hell yeah...a light dinner is recommended by everybody. There's a saying that 'EAT BREAKFAST LIKE A KING,LUNCH LIKE A PRINCE AND DINNER LIKE A BEGGAR.'but i find it too hard to do that given i have to attend a lot of parties at night and often tend to eat like 10 kings.

hahaha!! you got it right!! it is really hard to skip dinner when it is the right time to attend to many gatherings after work. Besides, at dinner time, you are not in a hurry of being late for work? so, it is the time to eat plenty. That is most people are saying.
Yeah, how could we follow the recommended health practice if we always attend a dinner party? lol.
Just a thought. I hope I could beat it.
Thanks for the reply.

yes, that is the advice by the health experts. Dinner should be lighter. heavy dinner would make us uncomfortable, and we can;t sleep well at night when we are full..

I do not skip dinner. You need breakfast, lunch, and dinner so else it is easier for you to gain weight especially in the tummy area. And not only that, you will usually eat the wrong food because you are so hungry. I mean except for fasting for religious reasons, there is no reason to not eat supper.

sometimes i skip dinner if i'm still full from having my afternoon snacks. but most of the time, i get hungry at dinner time so its not good to skip my supper. sometimes, if i'm not full but not hungry, i would eat a light dinner. it is still good to have some food in our stomach at night because we still need energy for sleeping. but of course, we don't need much energy for sleeping. we need only a little since we're just gonna be lying down there and rest. we need the energy for our body to function since there are organs inside our body that works 24 hours like our heart. so as much as eating too much food before going to bed is bad, it is also bad to go into bed without eating anything.

yes, you get it right!! it is bad to go to bed with full stomach and it is not also good to go to bed hungry because you can;t sleep when your stomach keeps on complaining.

I usually eat a lite dinner coz I'm a diabetic and can't skip meals or else my sugar level will surely fall. I have tried 2 meals a day when I was younger and it made me fit but nowadays it won't work for me anymore..My metabolism as slowing down. I dont have any idea if 2 meals a day is good for our health but it sure is unhealthy if you ate a heavy dinner 2 hours before going to sleep..

Nah, pretty much never.
My dinner is normally at home so it is not skipped.
If I am not having it at home, I would be out having dinner.
Dinner is my most important meal of the day lol.

In my opinion, celestial, I think people should eat when they are hungry. If we followed that rule there would be lots less overweight and stomach problems. Two meals each day are sufficient for some people while others require three or more. I think we would all agree that eating late at night is not a wise choice!

I am not very good about eating breakfast, I never have been. It takes me several hours for my body to decide that it would be a good idea to eat something. The big meal I eat is at lunch, which is a T.V. dinner (I'm single and just don't bother to cook too often). The rest of the day I sort of graze, eating veggies and fruits when I feel the need to eat something. In fact I have some broccoli and calliflower to cook today so I have it ready for my "munchies". I also eat a lot of rice simply because when I lived in Thailand I became adjusted to their style of cooking and eating. To this day I prefer a meal loaded with rice and veggies than one packed with a ton of beef or chicken. I love fish and could eat fish and shrimp daily and be happy...especially when it is done as a fried rice dish. I have a veggie garden and will go out and pick spinach and lettuce and rinse it off and end up eating it before I even get back in the house!
The Europeans and Asians have their ideas straight. Eat your huge meal at noon. This gives the food plenty of time to digest so that you don't go to bed with all that food in your system. My dinner is usually, again, fruit or veggies and then when my BF comes to watch T.V. with me we have a small bowl of ice cream or sherbet.
Depending on your activity levels, two meals a day just isn't healthy. It's far better to split it up into 6 small meals, with the major meal at lunch time as I stated previously. I'm not an expert, but it's something that I have read time after time. Also, I have read quite often that we really don't need the massive amounts of meat like the Americans are used to eating. I was going to be a nutritionist when I was going to college, but things happened and I am only now finishing college...at age 55.

I don't think its good to skip any meal, because if you do, the next meal you eat, you will overeat because your hungrier. I myself tend to skip breakfast, so when it comes to lunchtime, I'll usually end up eating too much. Then when dinner rolls around, I try not to have a heavy meal, especially if I've had a big lunch. Its not good to skip meals, especially if your a diabetic like me, they tell us to eat three meals a day and 3 healthy snacks in between, to keep your sugar regulated and to keep it from going up and down. But if you ask me thats alot of eating, especially if your trying to lose some weight.

I instead believe that a proper breakfast, a considerably complete lunch and a balance yet light dinner is very adequate to keep up healthy :)
