I see many people on the "House Hunters" tv show who have moved to another country- some going across an entire ocean to do so.
Years ago I seriously considered moving from the US to Australia. That was back before I had the internet at my disposal to even figure out how one goes about moving to another country. I mean, now days I could have a place to live and a job lined up before even setting foot off my native soil! Though the prospect still excites me, I have too much invested in my current life to even consider moving out of the state I live in let alone the country...lol.
So, have you ever picked up and moved to another country? Why did you decide to do that? Do you still live there?

I could never make the decision to move to another country on the spur of the moment. I would be leaving behind too many important things. I suppose if I were fleeing from persecution (not prosecution), but actual persecution, the I'd have no problem leaving.
I have often thought of moving to South America or Canada. That might be nice. I would have to know that I could earn a living before going. I would not just want to pick out a country and run. If you know what I mean! LOL! But, my best wishes for the people on House Hunters that can do it.
By the way, I love that show and watched it daily or twice a day when we had cable. It was so much fun and I loved listening to the narrarator. I liked the house decorating shows on that channel too. So, much fun! Thanks for the brilliant and insightful discussions. I've enjoyed all your topics!

I've lived in other countries, but it was while I was in the Marine Corps, so I suppose it wasn't quite the same.
I did a one year tour in Japan, and we considered extending that to a three year tour, but my oldest son was only a year old and learning to talk, etc, and I honestly didn't want him learning Japanese (or Korean, his babysitter was Korean) before learning English.
Right now with the election the way it's going here in the U.S., I have fleeting thoughts of moving to Canada. I've done a lot of genealogical research lately and would love to look up relatives that are there.
