We just got home from work and the roomie decided to feed the dogs.
We have our dog food in a small metal trash can in the house. The cats use this as a stepping stone to the counter where we feed them.
Well, the roomie pulled the lid off and reached inside and pulled out the scoop. Just then Oliver jumped on the can!OMG! He teetered on the edge, then caught himself, spreadeagled on the edges of the can over the food.
He was looking around all in a panic trying to figure out how to get off the can!Needless to say we were laughing uncontrollably.
No, we didn't help him either, he got himself out of the situation!
I came out a little later and was telling him that "Yes, we were laughing at you."
But since I was saying it in a "I love you" voice, he just accepted my pets gracefully.

Aww--that's not nice to laugh at your kitty...Glad to hear Oliver was able to get out of the situation himself though. Isn't it great though that animals don't hold a grudge for long..not even when we laugh at them

I really wish I had been there to see that. You told the story so well that I feel like I was here, bu I still wish I'd been there to see it happen for myself, or that a video was available. That would be great!

I can just picture it happening! That would have been hilarious.
The other day mum was showing me how her kitten curls up in a ball and doesn't move when one of the bigger cats attacks him. It's not a bad attack, more like a hiss and a pounce when the kitten's annoying the big cats.
So when it happens, he curls up in a ball and DOES NOT move at all! Mum was showing me and we were laughing our heads off until she felt sorry for hima nd had to pick him up and give him cuddles. Cats are funny!

That's what Tigger used to do when we first got him. Curl up into a tiny ball of fluff whenever he was scared stiff. Here in the pic I attached, he is burrowed down in my arms. He still holds onto whoever is holding him for fear of being dropped.

Awwwwwww come on, Elic. If your going to tell us about something this funny, you need at least one pic to go along with the discussion. Wonder if Oliver even dared to look down at the 'water'. LOL

LOL Cats sure can be dumb at times but I think they pretend to be just to amuse us. They are too smart for their own good.

That is funny! I have laughed at our dog on more than one ocassion when she's done something silly. She nearly fell off the arm of the couch one time but she scrambled and caught the couch, hanging from it. Oh my gosh it was funny! She wasn't hurt or anything but she sure looked silly! Wish I'd had the camera in my hand! :-)

Aw poor Oliver, I bet he must have wondered what the heck was going on. They are such silly things sometimes though aren't they.

Aww. I love it when animals do something that sort of shows their own personality.

poor little guy it must have been a real sight to see that is for sure. I wonder if animals can feel embarrassed too?

That's so funny, I can just picture it! Doesn't it make you mad that you never seem to have a camera when your pets do the funniest things? I know my two cats are doing something funny all the time and I swear I could win a price for the funniest video if I could capture them on tape.

I think that's funny, too - and it does seem that cats can tell when someone's laughing and they act embarrassed - and then angry about being embarrassed.
We had a cat who loved to play in the tub. He'd run and jump in and slide. It was funny to hear him in there. But, we put water in the tub one time for a bath instead of the showers we usually took and he didn't know. Well, needless to say, that was one really shocked and unhappy kitty!! How do you stop midair? He was not happy with any of us for a while!!
Another time, a different cat I had got a pretty big shock. He adored my mother and would lie on her as often as he got the chance. Usually, in the afternoons, she would lie on the couch and read or watch television. Simon would immediately jump up on her and lie on her stomach curled up in a tight ball.
Well, one day, my father was home. Simon knew Dad didn't like him and avoided him when he could. It was mid-afternoon and Dad decided to lie on the couch. Well, Simon heard the sound of someone lying on the couch, jumped off the top of the television and jumped up to lie on Mom......except, it wasn't Mom. Dad said the look on the cat's face was one of complete shock and fear - the ultimate "Oh Sh*t!" But, there was nowhere to go but land. He froze in place to see what would happen and Dad didn't move to see what Simon would do. Eventually, Simon did lie down, but you could tell he was very uneasy about it because he kept turning to look at Dad to see if he was going to chase him off. Dad didn't have the heart after seeing the expression on his face.

I've seen something like that your second story.
I've even heard from a friend who's cat used to jump in her arms. Well, she went for several weeks to a class in England. when she came back the cat was so excited to see her he jumpped. then, in mid-jump, remembered he was mad at her for being gone so long and twisted in the air so he landed in her arms with his back to her.

Cats are silly and the jams they get themselves into. That would of been cute and funny to see. When they do the cutest things it seems that is when my cam is never around.
