well we get colds in general by contracting the contagious virus form the air we breathe, or if we know someone and we happen to be with them in enclosed surroundings. if so, the virus will spread and those who have weaker immune systems will be the one most likely to get colds. whenever i catch colds, i just let it heal naturally or it if causes hassle and lasts for morethan a week, i just take a tablet medicine.

oh do you mean you let it heal naturally without taking a pill at the beginning? but as i see,it's good to take a pill as early as possible in case the virus is spread to the whole body.we'd better kill the virus at the very beginning.

well yeah if you are about to mingle with alot of people then maybe taking a pill is necessary, but i heard that people should not take medicines as much as possible as they get immune to it in the long run and the efficacy of the medicine will be weaker and weaker until they are immune to it already. thats what my mom experienced after taking painkiller tablets formany years, it no longer works on her. its really up to you.

but we learn and benefit from the continuous asking.i think it's always good to encourage children to ask and find what they are puzzled with.

I am fighting one off again and, this time it is all my hubby's fault. He brought it home with him from his co-workers, proceeded to continue to kiss me before it occurred to me that he was spreading his germs to my face, and now...I am suffering from a scratchy throat for the past 3 days...each day gets worse, post nasal drip and today I can hear the stuffiness in my voice.
So, I am hoping to fight it off before it really takes ahold of me and I hope you get over yours soon too! Good luck!

LOL! Yes, my hubby is lovely! LOL!
Unfortunately, I ended up catching the cold and am still trying to kick it. I am much better but, I still have some congestion. I actually think I would have kicked it sooner but, I used nose spray whenever I would get too stuffed up, so I could sleep, and that just prolongs the problems because it subdues what needs to make its way out of the body. So, now that I am not using the nose spray, I had to ween myself off this weekend, I am getting better again!
I am glad you are healthy again!

Normally, if I catch a cold it's because I was around someone who had a cold. I have three kids living with us, plus I am a high school substitute teacher so I catch colds all of the time.

it's also a main cause of getting cold.so take care in changing season.plus you'd better strengthen your immune system to resist it.

i get colds when i got sweat in my back and i don't wipe it right away. they said that when your sweat dried up in your back, it affects your lungs. i believe this usually happens with me.
other things that give me colds are: crying, hot foods, and dust.

me too.i was told to wipe the sweat as soon aspossible.but sometimes i just forget it and once i got cold due to it.
i know that dust is one cause of cold but i never heard that crying leads to cold.it's strange.

you don't get colds because of taking a bath with colder water. colds come from viruses. people just tend to get more colds during winter months because people tend to stay indoors more often and the closeness of people tends to mean more germs being spread around. one way that you can help stop yourself from getting a cold or spreading it to other people is to wash your hands often, and to avoid touching your face.
hope you are feeling better soon!

weather... it's my number one cause of colds...
i'm in a tropical country with unpredictable weather...
one moment it would be really, really hot in here (some time it would register 38 degrees or so), the next hours it will rain very hard...
constantly being confined in a fully airconditioned room at work, while there's too hot weather outside, gives me colds. as well as cold breezes, too cold airconditioning and weather.
staying up too late at night can also cause me colds. i also have morning sickness and allergic rhenitis. i guess it's not a wonder anymore why there are too many things which causes my colds (leading to fever most of the times).
