What Good Have You Done Lately?

Okay Im a bit bored today and I went to the bottom of my interest group and decided I was gonna start a discussion in this category. Low and behold its ROAK and its empty. I dont think this is right at all. So what does it stand for Random Acts Of Kindness. We should all try and do something for someone else this weekend. So what have you done for someone that was very random? What will you do this weekend? Even a smile for that old crabby guy you see every day counts.

In the service station on the way home from my hols yesterday a little girl was strugging with the taps in the toilet. One woman just let her struggle, so I went over and gave her a hand. I also helped someone carry their pushchair down some stairs as everyone else just let the poor lady struggle, I know how hard it can be so I gave her a hand. I am always willing to lend a hand to others if I can, and it is a good feeling to lend a hand to others in a moment where they are stuggling. I do not understand how people can just stand by and watch them struggle.

I have seen people stand by and watch all the time makes me sick. What does it hurt to help someone out. Good for you helping out makes me proud to hear there are nice people still out there.

Not many people do offer a hand anymore, they just pretend not to see people struggle, or they just push past impatient to be the first to pass. I see a lot of women with pushchairs now left to struggle with doors and steps and no one bothering to lend a hand. I know that there still are people with good manners who will help a person in distress, but these seem to be few and far between and yet my generation were always taught manners from the moment we could learn, I do not know what has happened to this world at times!!

hmm.. tough one. but you're right about it. we have this charitable institution here in the philippines called red cross. they provide health assistance. they are known for their blood bank campaign where people donate their bloods for those who are in need. i haven't tried donating blood yet but lately, red cross volunteers are scattered across the tollgates with some kind of offering bags for donations. i always make it a point to give everytime i pass one. i don't know if you can consider this as a random act of kindness but that's the only thing i can think of right now. sorry. ;'(

It counts in my book. I have donated blood a few times. It costs you nothing and it could help save a life everyone should do it if they are healthy of course.

Today as we started to go into Sams Club shopping we grabbed a few carts and brought them inside as they were in the middle of the parking lot. So I saved a customer the hassle of having to move it as they were to park or leave as well as helping the employess have 3 less carts to bring back into the store themselves. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM DADDY !!~

Hey and if the wind gets strong those carts could have dented a car or two also. Now for your next good deed you can bring your pregnant daughter some peanutbutter cup ice cream. Ever since Cortjo talked about this eddys ice cream i am craving it lol.

The main thing I try to do is take supper to my in-laws when they have been working in the yard or building furniture. Sometimes after supper when I'm starting to clean up. I fix plates for them if I think they haven't eatin yet. They always appreciate it. I can't afford to really do anything for anyone.

I have helped my grandson find a toy in his toy box. I have given some top rate answers on yahooanswers. I try to help the little kids around my neighborhood see some options as far as their behaviour too. I just try to make an inpact, no matter how small, in my little corner of the world. I think if we all did that we would begin to see a change.

I always do random acts of kindness for others every day of the week. It never comes back to me though, it seems. It wears me out waiting for it to happen. I am always doing things for others, mainly within my home. I used to do it for others outside of my home but I got tired of being used and never even acknowledged afterwards. I work seven days per week to help my family make it. I tried to help my husband out in the yard this weekend but he never hardly talks to me so I stopped and came in. He invited acquaintances to help him today though and talks their head off. We are supposed to be best friends but he never had friendly words to say to me as his wife. It is always some off of the wall conversation. I always try to make everyone around me happy but never get it back. No wander I stay so depressed.

((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) Sorry people are not appreciating all that you do. Sometimes it does suck when people just dont see or care what you do for them. Someday they will realise what you meant to them I just hope its soon.

Oh not sure if this applys or not to random acts of kindness but the other day I was feeling really down in the dumps and I got on a site that my grandson goes to that he can fix his chat page up with things he likes and I bought and sent him come credits so he can buy even more things for his chat page. He had no idea I was going to do this. I noticed that he has bought new stickers and got a new avatar. They do get free credits to get new things but when your purchase some you can get better ones. He was really surprised and happy. He can really enjoy it now since yesterday at noon he is out of school for the summer.

The only good deed I can think of this week was when I saw a mother let go of her child's pushchair so she could turn round and speak to her older child who was playing up behind her. She did not seem to notice that she was on a slope and the pushchair began to roll down the slope towards me. Of course I stopped it and pushed the child back up to the mother, who looked rather alarmed when she turned back to see her infant was not where she expected. And she was very grateful to me. If I can make someone feel better with a smile and a cheerful word I will do so.

"Random acts of kindness," is all I ever do. It is what my mother did and taught, so it is who I am. I love to do nice things for people just to see them smile. I guess one of the things that I did recently was to give a friend a gift bag full of free samples and little gifts. She always gives me things like lotions and such, so today I decided to make up a special bag for her. I have given her things before, but this time I made it extra nice. So when she comes home tomorrow she will get a wonderful surprise.

Well I believe in Karma, so I try to do something good every day. Today, I held the door for a man carrying in a bed and continued to hold it for the elderly man who was behind him. I also helped a little girl who lost her balloon. I guess that's not much, but even the small things matter. Tomorrow I'll do good for the earth. I'm going grocery shopping and I won't use plastic bags. I'll use my new re-usable bags.

The last thing I did, and I wasn't aware I was doing it, was cheer up my neighbor who had been really blue for the past couple of weeks because her Aunt, whom she considered more of a sister, passed away unexpectedly. I asked her to help me touch of up my roots...the blond was making a strong comeback...so she came over and we were joking around and chit chatting as she put my color in. Then after I had washed it all out and dried it, we continued to chat (all during the entire process) and then the hubby came back from his walk and we all chit chatted more. We clowned around on the internet for a while and I showed her a funny YouTube video I had found. We all just kept joking around and had each other in stitches and tears. She got ready to leave and she turned to both the hubby and I and thanked us for making her laugh for the first time in 2 weeks or so. So, we didn't know we were helping to cheer her up but, we did! This weekend, I will try to do something kind for someone else but, I am feeling pretty down myself right now because I caught the hubby's cold and it is beating the fedge out of me and I am only into day 4 of it. It started with a burning or stinging in my sinuses 4 days ago, then 3 days of a sore throat, and last night the stuffy, drippy, stuffy, drippy irritating nose related crap started. And, today I am struggling to breath. I am becoming a mouth breather. Even nose spray isn't really doing much of the trick! And, I know from watching my hubby that it is only going to get worse! But, I will do my best to do something kind for someone else! LOL! Now, can someone give me the cure for the common cold? LOL! That could be your act of random kindness! LOL!

Other than holding doors when people don't expect it, the one thing that stands out in my mind is when I ate at Friendly's once and my meal came with a free sundae. Well, I wasn't in the mood for it and I couldn't take it back to work, so I told the waitress to give it to someone with a child who just looked like she could use a nice gesture - maybe she was counting pennies to pay for her meal, whatever. I'd leave it up to her. I thought the woman was going to cry. It was a tiny thing in the long scheme of things, but I wanted to make sure it was someone who would definitely appreciate that act of kindness. You see - once I had a birthday party planned for my son - his 7th, I think. We had reserved space at the local pizza place for the 10 guests we had invited. Everyone said they'd be there. This included cousins. Well - not one single person showed up. My son didn't know what to think, but I know what I thought and I was angry. Family blowing off family is just beyond excuse. Well, two women came up to us and asked us what was happening - I told them. They expressed how sorry they were and left. About 25 minutes later, those two women came in with arms full of gifts for my son!! They said they couldn't bear the shame of his own family standing him up - even his father didn't come. So, they bought him gifts. It was ME who almost cried. I've never been able to do much to pass that on, but the Friendly's sundae just seemed to be the thing. Maybe it didn't mean much to the person, but I'll bet the child will always remember it! My son does.
