How often do you rent a movie from the video store?

Lately with the rainy weather and being home to look after my baby I have been renting movies nearly once a week. They have some good deals on lately where you get 2 new releases and 3 weekly movies for $12.95, that is a good bargain. The last movies I watched was Rogue, an action movie with the actor Jet Lei, which I watched last night. My partner picked it, it was a bit gory for me, could not handle all the killings and blood.
So how often do you rent movies from the store? Or do you watch movies for free that you have downloaded off the net? Also what is the last movie you watched, do you recommend watching it?

Hi kiran1978.
I get Netflix, so I pretty much always have a movie to watch. Over the 3 day holiday weekend, we did go to Blockbuster and select 2 more movies, just for fun. I prefer Netflix because it's just so easy to get DVDs in the mail.
I've never watched a free movie downloaded from the internet. I need to figure out how to hook up my computer to the TV so we could view it on a larger screen.
We just finished watching (about 30 minutes ago) a documentary called, "Unidentified White Male." It was very, very interesting. In fact, I just started a new discussion at myLot about it. Anyway, it was about a guy who lost his memory, developed amnesia. Actually, he was in what is called a "psychogenic fugue". He couldn't remember his name, where he lived, or anything about his life before the memory loss. Very, very good. I highly recommend it.
Well, take care. And keep watching those movies.

That documentary sounds very interesting, I hope they hire it at the shop. I would love to see it. Netflix seems very popular here, never heard of it till today. I am going to look into that. THanks for your recommendations, have a great day.

Hi peaceful, thanks for the links to the movie site. Good point, saving gas, it is getting worrying about the big hike in fuel prices. The only problem with downloading movies is our internet company is already warned us about our GB downloads a month, we are only allowed 4GB and we have 3 computers using net in our house, we always go over. Hope you and your family have a great day.

We never rent movies to be honest with you, we have a friend who we get them off before they are released on dvd so we no longer have to wait to see anything. But to be honest with you, we do not actually watch that many movies. I think the last film that I watched was called "The Others", with Nicole Kidman and that was on tv last night. Good film though and I enjoyed it.

Hey, welcome back, I missed ya, have not checked out my emails yet to see your discussions. Look forward to seeing what you have been up to, hopt you had a good trip.
Lucky you, getting all the latest dvds before they are released, that would be awesome. Is the quality of these movies good? I like the "Others" it had a great twist at the end of it, Nicole Kidman is a great actor too. I had the shivers after watching that movie, thinking their may be others in my house, lol.

I do not rent too often. We will occasionally watch a pay-per-view on satellite. The last one we watched was (hubby's choice) Awake. It was weird...worth my time? I guess. Worth $4? I dunno. It was ok...different.

Have not seen that movie, sounds like a thriller. I like watching thrillers and comedies depending on my mood, lol. $4 is not a bad price, cheaper then renting from the store.

I havent really rented any movies lately but before I used to rent maybe 2-3 movies every few weeks unless there wasnt anything good out. I do watch movies online because sometimes I cant go to the movie theaters to watch movies and they havent come out on DVD yet. The last movie that I watched was One Missed Call. It was alright.. pretty predictable though but the ending left it open for a sequel.. not sure if they will make one though. Yeah, I recommend watching it. A lot of parts I jumped on and others might find it scary.

"One Missed Call" sounds interesting, have not seen that at the movie store, is that a new release, maybe they don't have it here in Australia yet on DVD. It seems like people downloading movies these days is becoming more popular. I like to watch movies on the tv and lay on the couch. Thanks for the recommendation of the movie.

We have netflix as well and we usually run through around 6 movies a week. We don't have cable so all we watch is netflix. The last movie that we watched was National Treasure and National Treasure 2. Both of which are good films. I watched the Aristocats last night while my husband was away--he is not a fan of cartoons.

WOw you are the second person to mention Netflix, which country are you in and how did you find out about this great deal? 6 movies a week that would be great, is it expensive? Have not seen the movies you mentioned, will have to check out Aristocats for my children, I am not a big fan of cartoons either, although I did like the penguin movie, "Happy Feet." Have you seen that one?

I usually rent five movies a week if there are good ones. Almost everyweek they have new movies so I hire at least five movies. The shop promo is rent five movies and one is free. It's a good deal. The latest movies I hired were Saw1V, the Cleaner, Conspiracy, the Bee movie and BachelorParty2. Rogue seems like and old Jet Lei movie. I prefer renting movies because it is cheaper.
I don't download movies because I have slow connections and it will take several days to download 750Mb of file. I do sometimes watch streaming movies on the net which my connection can handle. The disadvantage is you are viewing it on small screen and not on surround sounds. Unless you have a very good video card for tv viewing and a surround speaker on your computer.

Hi There,
I used to watch movies all the time. I tend not to watch them as much anymore as I am usually doing too many other things. I would say I average about 1 or 2 movies a month. Even if something really good comes out that I want to see I still do not rush to see it. The last movie that I watched was last night, and it was National Treasure.
cheers,

I rent one a month - I get a "free movie" coupon from Blockbuster every month and use it when my grand daughter comes over - she gets to choose the movie!

I only rent movies maybe 2 or 3 times a month, if theres something I really been wanting to see. I rented movies last week, when my nephew was here, so we have to rent something that he can watch of course. I did rent Mad Money, you have to see it, its good, and The Gameplan with the Rock in it, it was good also. I would recommend those movies to anyone.

Every once in a while, when there's a really good movie out that i didn't see in movies (due to business) i go and rent it at stores. I think i only do it for the best or most favorite movies, though, not just any movie.

Sounds like you go to the movies a bit, that is great. I don't get to the movies much, so I have to see the popular movies on video.

As much as I used to lament the slowdown in people going OUT to the movies, I have now become someone who ONLY watches movies on DVD. At your typical multiplex, you have jiggly images, badly-serviced projectors (which are loaded by the same guy who sells you popcorn), and you're lucky if they get the screen ratio right. So, I have--ta-da! Netflix, the friend of the recluse. My TV serves more often as a monitor than as a television. I watch Jon Stewart religiously, but the rest of the evening is spent watching a movie. That's a movie a night, and I STILL have my TV on less than the average viewer! (Do I seem a little defensive about my vice?) For the record, the last movie I watched was VOLVER, a Spanish-language movie from my permanent collection. I find it very moving--only problem, Penelope Cruz is so gorgeous in it I can never keep my eyes on the subtitles!

we dont really rent a whole lot of movies like we used to. We used to do netflix...but we stopped getting that when we decided to get cable. I have also started downloading movies on the computer and that makes a BIG difference as well. We just watched P.S. I love you the other day. It was a REALLY good mood. And yes I would definatly recommend anyone to watch it.

Oh, I hate gory movies too! I put a couple gory movies on my movie blog, but I don't watch them too much. My spouse loves them though. I wish I could stand them, but I can't.
We have Netflix and that's working out for us. But, lately I've found that there are hundreds if not thousands of free movies and TV shows you can watch online. That's why I started my movie blog. I am always running across movies and NBA games that I'd love to share.
I like watching Simpsons and Family Guy online and DVD too. I just watched some Family Guy on DVD and it's way funnier than the cencsored version they show on TV.

I watch way to many movies. I am signed up with blockbuster.com and they send me three movies at a time. I would say on average I wanted 5 - 7 movies a month. Maybe more sometimes.
The last movie I watched was August Rush. If you like adorable kids and family movies you would like this one. Keri Russel is in it which is why I rented it, I really like her but she doesn't do much.

Maybe about once a month. Most of the time my mom just buys movies for cheap or I watch them at my friends house.
