i have a pretty stable job with a pension and halth insurance for my family. Even though, sometimes, I want to quite and do something else I know I would be taking a huge loss. I kinda painted myself into a corner. With so many people not having a solid income I should consider myslef very blessed! How is the economics in your area? Pretty bad here!

Yes a stable job is better as there are resposibilities to shoulder.Of course things can be quite different if one has developed an expertise in a highly popular domain or area of specialization and one has the risk taking capabilities. Then one can venture as a Consultant and do jobs for many firms and maybe quit and start a business of one's own.
As far as Economy is concerned well it has got its own cycles and mood swings.I heard about the recession thing over there at your place...how is it now?Any signs of a recovery? Here at my place it is going ok for now though US economy will always have an effect somehow.Prices of commodities though have started rising even here.

Once I get a decent job, I like to stay with it as long as possible. I have problems getting jobs for some reason and I don't have good health, so I may not be able to keep up with some jobs. I've also never really had a stable job and would really like one. I've had one job for a very long time, but my hours keep getting cut back every time there's a little budget problem. And, I get no benefits. I would love to have a job that I feel is a good fit, pays well, and I can keep for a while.

I prefer a stable job for it tends to make one look better professionally. The company I'm with I've been there almost 6 years now in October 2008. I have a few friends that jump from job to job only because they get a couple of flaws in the job and give up and quit w/ out giveing it a chance. I think if you find a good company that is willing to pay good stick w/ it for the way the economy is right now I don't see how people can jump from job to job the way they do.

I would like to go job-hopping if finding a job is as easy as picking a movie from the video store. :)
Pay is better when you change jobs often. :) Plus staying in one job for too long for me gets really boring. After maybe a few years I like to change jobs so that I can learn new things.

Anyone would always prefer a stable job over job-hopping anytime.
But some situations do arise that cause you to make some decisions on moving on, like financial needs or most of the times relationship problems at work.
On my part though, I may have my share of job hoppings, but my loyalty to those companies I worked for remain.
Cheers!

Hi there Nikhil!
I like a stable job more but only if there's room for progress. Like I can get promoted.
