believe me after using vista for 2 days you would be so annoyed by the security pop ups that you would rather trash your pc than open it again :S (leaving alone all the other problems for example 6 seconds at least to open my computer :S can somebody explain to me HOW did they make the opening of my computer so painfully slow???????)

For me, it is not yet the right time to upgrade to VISTA. We still need to wait for Micro$oft to release their Service Pack 2 for it so most of the hardware compatibility issues would be addressed and resolved. At this time I can say that Windows XP still rules!

Vista can both be slow and fast, it all depends on your computer and how much RAM you have. I run Vista on a computer with 4 GB RAM, and it is not slow at all.
I recommand to have at least 2 GB RAM if you are planning to buy Vista. If you have under 2 GB RAM, it will be slow.

yep thats right. you have to have at least 2 gb of ram to make vista work at an ok speed.
for 64 bit vista though you can run on the 8 gig ram for maximum results.

Yes, Vista is a lot heavier. While you can run Vista Home Basic on a machine with 512 MB of RAM, you need a gig or more to run Home Premium (2 GB is ideal). Of course there are a lot of services you probably don't need that can be turned off from the system configuration utility, but XP will still outrun Vista.
Generally, Vista will hog up as much as 768 MB or RAM just to sit there, while XP takes about 192. One perfectly legitimate reason for this is that Vista caches a lot of programs to help boost responsiveness, and it does work. Vista really is responsive, when your system is all the way up and running. But boot time takes longer, and applications tend to take a bit longer as well (though not a whole lot longer).

Yeah vista is not only slow but terrible in performance. It needs unreasonably very high system resources and it has nothing good to offer you. You will simply get fed up of its unstopping pop-ups and security updates. It has got conflicts with many of the softwares as well.
The point is why to go for high system resources to install vista when you can have the same at lower resources.

Vista aren't slow..... they really and trully utterly suck! They need resourses like 2+ gb ram, 2,4+ pentium duo or later, 250 euro grafic cards at least etc and what do they give you for all that? PART of the things that linux give you for 250gb, ram 1,4 pentium 4, and whatever grafic card. They look prettier than xp BUT tend to crash much more often they get into your nerves allways popping up security dialogs and everything is much more difficult and resourse-demanding than in any other OS. You want the best OS for your pc? That's windows xp + service pach 3. Stable as a rock way faster than vista way easyer to use than vista and WAY less consuming

I have heard this too and that you can not do a lot of things at once as on XP, I think it works on a different level all together, I want to stay with XP but I have been told the XP days are numbered...

Like others have said with vista it all depends on your computer. I would suggest you don't have vista unless you have probably a 3ghz computer or faster one of the latest video cards out there and at least 2gb of ram.

Windows Vista is slow when you have a low system computer. In order Vista will be satisfactory, you need at least 512MB RAM and 1.8 Ghz Processor.

It is not Vista that is slow,it the computer! If your computer is not up to the requirements,of course it will be slower! My computer is core2duo,2gb ram and uses both xp and vista(dual boot).Vista is not just faster,it's more easier to use too!
