Can you just answer the question without being cynical or degrading? She isn't asking if you think she's hot. Don't be rude.

If I had a good educational background I would be insulted to be paid minimum wage. Most jobs that pay minimum wage are places like fast food or entry level jobs. If you had to have an eductaion to work these jobs, there would be a lot of unemployed people. And as for the people with an education, why would you take a bottom of the barrel job when you could have a much better one?

I agree with you. We also need to keep in mind though that alot of the fast food places and entry level jobs employ people that are just working a little part time job at night to earn a few extra bucks even though they have full time employment elsewhere. They may be extremely educated but just want something super part time that has flexible hours :)

Unfortunately, many minimum wage jobs today (at least here) require some sort of specialized training, if you can believe it. There are some jobs that only require that you work hard and have a highschool diploma, but when I was looking for my last job in reception/clerical work, it was expected that I had at least a college diploma as well as experience, and the companies I was applying to were only offering about 50 cents about the minimum wage at the time. The only reason I even got a raise was because of the increase in minimum wage. Companies are expecting too much from their employees today with not enough compensation.

I think so education is very important for whatever you do. Even if it cleaning the floors. If one has some educational background then only they can rise higher in their profession. Everone has to start with the entry level job only. I think so it is the responsibilty of government to come up with some concrete plan about eduaction and the job levels.

Well if you're referring to a high school diploma or a ged, then I say yes. However if you're referring to a college education to meet the requirements for a minimum wage job, then my answer is no. I think that everyone needs at least a high school diploma or ged, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

I think you need some basic skills to work minimum wage jobs. But its usually tedious work that is so repetitive that it does not take long to learn it. Minimum wage jobs are sometimes the hardest job you will ever work though.

Well, I think a good education is important. No matter what kind of a job you want, it will make you a more knowledgeable and well-rounded person. When you take courses in college, there are always courses about self-awareness and improvement. So you can't loose in that respect. I have a degree in early childhood education, but I work in a greenhouse. For extra cash I have found this site that I like. The site is:

Well, if you can do the job, it should not be necessary. It does actually depend on the business's hiring requirements. However, most minimum-wage jobs are good for full-time students to earn some kind of spending money, as well as get a feel for actually having a job.
An education (such as a college degree) is good for a chance to get ahead & get promotions.

They should be qualified for the job at least. If the job requires typing for example they should be able to type whether they went to school or not. I do think it's important that people should at least complete high school, but no everyone is able to for their own personal reasons. I think anyone who is willing to work and learn should at least have a shot at a job.

No, and esp. not in the states where education costs (a lot). Because of that an education should qualify for more than minimum wage. But you don't tend to need much education for minimum wage jobs do ya? Personality and personal abilities and potential should be far more important than education when it comes to minimum wage jobs. For example that one is trustworty should go a long way, IMHO

I think you need to have qualifactions for everything you do .. I think you need to do a short course and a certificate to use your own lawn mower and even to use household appliances .. I think the goverment should come out with a card system ! like different coloured cards for different levels of compency I even think you should do a course a 2 year course before you have a baby --- Im writing a letter now to the president of the USA out lining just how much money they could make with this card system ... say $200 for each card and renew it say every 3 years .....
