Did you see the story of the Red Wings fan that snuck in an octopus into the Pens- Wings game? he froze it, drove to Pittsburgh. Wore a white shirt to blend into the white out, and then tossed the octopus onto the ice. Then he was thrown out of the arena. But he planned for that and he changed shirts and used his other ticket and went back into the game. Now that is love. And it brought good Karma because the Wings won!

i also thought this was great. some guy whose been a diehard wings fan from ohio gets an octopus and freezes it, uses a ticket and then throws it on the ice. immediately met by security and thrown out he changes into a red wings jersey and buys a 300 dollar ticket from a scalper and re-enters. nothing shows more of a love for aa team tthan risking jailtime to do this stunt. great gesture and great support for the team. i especially loved this because i live outside detroit and have beena die hard wings fan my entirei life

I have been a Red Wing fan since 1997. The first final I saw was The Wings sweeping the Flyers.

Pretty tough to have to resort to that to make the game someway towards interesting!
What was wrong with streakers?

To streak where Everyone can see, you have to be in the center. In hockey , there isn't a way for a fan to get onto the ice. In fact, you wouldn't want to streak in cold ice rink. The octopus is a symbol of The Red wings. that is why this was a classic gesture of love.

I loved it. If I had the resources to do it I would have. He planned it out perfectly. Theres no reason to get thrown out if you can't get back in, but he had it covered. Personally, I wish they would "overlook" the whole no octopus rule for the game tonight in Detroit. I miss the days where they would cover the ice in octopii(spelling? heh). Its a great tradition and I miss it a bunch. Lets hope the Wings finish it tonight. Go Red Wings!

Interesting. I have to say the story makes me wonder about something sort of off topic. Why no octopi at the snack bars at sports arenas!? That's some good takoyaki there!
