Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Luke 6:38. KJV. Is there a connection between giving and receiving? Jesus says clearly that there is, and he always puts the giving first. Many people think that they have nothing to give, but this is never the case. We may not have money, but Jesus doesn't say it has to be money. Few people smile at someone who has a sour face. we all have something to give whether it's a visit to a shut-in friend, a helping hand at a food bank or soup kitchen or a call to a friend that we haven't seen in a while. why not become a giver, ask yourself "what can I give here; how can I be of service in this situation? Prove for yourself the truth of the statement, "give and you shall receive". You may just find yourself happier than you ever though possible. Blessings.

Hi Pose123! I completely agree with that verse and I know of its worth and value in my life. I have no money to give but can only offer my time and my love for anyone who needs it. And if I wipe a tear in a child's eye, the smile that the child fills my heart with joy I can not really describe. Take Care and Have a beautiful day! God Bless you my friend.

One thing to note, it is impossible to be a giver and not a receiver because when you start giving, it starts coming back to you, multiplied and pressed together. I thing I have found in my own life and the simplest to share is a smile. Its something that you can give to everyone that you meet.

I really enjoyed this topic. God loves and will surely bless the cheerful giver. Giving in and of itself brings me so much joy. Especially, when I know people well enough to give them something that I know they will like. But like you said, for some people, a hello and a smile makes all the difference in their world.

I wonder why giving and receiving are always so closely tied to each other? I like to give and I also like to receive and each one is not related to the other and this is how I like to have it, keep them separate. I don't give just to receive and when I receive I don't like to be obligated to give.

Hi underdogtoo, Thank you for responding. You may not have the true meaning of this. I agree that we should never feel obligated to give when someone gives us something. This refers to something different, like you must give love if you want to be loved or if you want friends you must first be a friend. I think we all receive a good feeling when we know that we have truly helped someone. Blessings.

I know what I meant and I understood what you meant. If I have to spell it out, giving should come from the heart and should be done without strings and receiving should be done without feeling subservient or beholden. Whether it's about material things or feelings and emotions, the same things apply. I'm not saying you're wrong, it's just me.

another way one can look at it is to say when you give of the best , whether its your time, money or talent or jsut a nice word to someone, is that you make room to receive more. Sometimes we get so caught up in "what is in it for me?" that we forget the pleasure and joy of just simple giving. When I give I dont look for anything but then God always provide.

Hi sharon38, Thank you for commenting. You have stated it very well, we make room to receive more. We don't give in order to receive, but we always feel good when we know that we have truly helped someone. The happiest people are usually those who give the most, and isn't that what life is really all about? I'm not just talking money here, there are things far more valuable than money. Blessings.

Yeah I agree that giving doesnt have to be always the money, in giving you have to give your best on it along with your heat :) God wants us to be givers for His glory !

i totally agree with that statement... when we give, we will receive more... even though that should not be our motivation when we give... we have to give willingly and expect nothing in rewards... instead, God is the one who will reward us... and it feels much more better to be rewarded by God rather than by humans... so i also try my best to give whenever i can and the joy we get from giving is beyond words... take care and have a nice day...

Hi lingli, Thank you for responding. You understand it well. We do not give for the we reward, we give willing and gladly because there is a need, but the reward will come it never fails. Blessings.

Hello Pose123, I am not an expert of Bible verses, but this verse is quite familiar to me. I personally experience it in my day to day life. I remember that there is some thing of the same sense in the Old Testament too. There it is told that you bless others to be blessed yourself. So to receive blessings you should keep blessing others. I am sure you are abundantly blessed, because you bless all in every postings here. I am sure that we will be provided with the same measures as we give. My blessings to you.

Hi abroji, Thank you for commenting. Yes there are several verses that say the same thing, just different wording. It is not a magic formula for getting what you want. You give because there is a need, and you do it gladly because you want to help, not for a reward, but the reward comes anyway. Blessings.

Sometimes people are afraid of giving because they think that people will take advantage of them ,but the feeling of giving is so rewarding. I prefer to give than to receive because everyone has the potential to make others happy and giving can be described as giving some of your time to others.

Hi Mirita, Thank you for commenting. Those who are afraid to give don't understand the concept. Give with joy, and receiving just comes naturally. I know what you mean by being taken advantage off, it happens but there are ways to handle it. Blessings.

Giving and Receiving. They usually say that its much better to give than to receive. I think when you do that the art of giving and receiving applies to it still, it's because when you give, there's always a good thing the will come to you, you maybe not notice in the first place but still there will come a time you'll receive or experience it. Receiving is a better thing but still we should not forgive the art of giving. Giving simply to see people smile, happy and give them the feeling of being cared.

i beleive there is a relation between them.an easy example is here you respond to others' discussions, then they'll respond to yours too.you first give then receive next. i didn't mean that you respond to others just as to get response from others as a return.i mean your good doing would bring something good to you again some day.that's the essence of giving and receiving.you never know what it would happen but it indeed has a good return.that's why we should always regulate ourselves to do good things and keep away from evil sin.

Hi sophialin, Thank you for commenting. You have the right idea, we don't give so that we will receive, but it happens naturally. Blessings.
