Do other pet owners see their pets as members of their family?

Fraidy the cat - This is my dear departed Fraidy. She came to me as a kitten and spent two happy years with us before she was tragically killed by a car.

Im the very proud owner of three cats, all of whom are rescued from a bad life. I see them bonafide members of my close family. I would be very interested if anyone else shares my feelings?

Yes, i feel like they are the only family I really have. I have other family members but they are distant from me some emotionally and others physically or both. My pets are close to me both physically and emotionally.

I have two kitties who are just about 6 months old. I got them when they were 3 months so I have only had them a couple months but they are my babies. I love them just like I love my own children. They are a part of my family!

I absolutely share your feelings! I've had pets since I was a small child and they've always been like members of the family. Now I have two dogs and they surely are my sons!! One of my dogs was rescued. He was a bait dog people were using for fighting. Even if he wasn't rescued, I would love him just the same. I do love them both very much. Pets are innocent and need to be cared for, just like children. They are definitely a part of the family!

Absolutely part of my family. I rush home to feed them their dinner so they don't have to wait. The 4 cats who live here are loved very much. They give me so much; I must give them what they need. I worry about them when something is off just as I did my children.

Maggie! - This is my baby, Maggie! :) She's a pit/shepherd/rottweiler mix. She's VERY sweet
Oh...my pets are my babies! lol. I looove them. I would defeniatly consider them important members of my family, and I really don't understand people who see them as property. I think it's a terrible label to put on to the creatures that love unconditionally. I'll add a picture of one of my dogs to response! :) Her names Maggie. We have two dogs right now...Maggie is my favorite. Is it bad to have a favorite? And is it bad that my favorite we've had a lot less time then the other dog? O.o My mom and sister think I'm evil for liking Maggie more lol. But I LOVE ALL my animals!

I do have 4 furry members of the family and then there also is my son's cat that he loves so much, more than us human members of his family. He says that is because his cat will listen to him and not complain or tell him he is wrong, lol. We have 4 dogs, three inside and one outside dog, plus a Savanna Monitor. They, the pets, can be the best therapy in the world for a person like me with exstream depression. I love to brush my dogs and pet them. They are like my kids and also drive me crazy like my kids also. They will get into the fridge and pull the food out and lay it in the hallway and then somehow they get out the back door and leave home without leaving a note. :.)

I am the proud parent of a beautiful little shih tzu whose name is Kenzi. She is my baby. She is nine years old this year. She is completely my family. She is sitting right here beside me as I type at the moment. I see her as a close friend and confidente. She is such an empath. She knows when I'm upset and comes up to me and sits in my lap and just looks deep into my eyes, she'll reach up to me and hug me just like a little kid. Maybe I'm anthropomorphizing her behavior, but I swear she knows what I'm thinking most of the time. We share the same pillow, though sometimes she tries to sleep sideways on the bed and kick me off. She is every bit my family.
