Gas Problem for travellers?

What is this problem with people running out of gas on freeway? I heard on the news that someone was out of gas and posted a sign for help. The helper gives them free gas! Oh, but the news says, they were not out of gas! Anyone hear that one, I did not get all the facts? My husband told me this morning, there was several cars on interstate, just stopped in traffic lane and thought maybe they were out of gas too! I am concerned about the gas problem.... What do you think?

I have heard on the news about people running out of gas on the roads. I don't know about any hoaxes to the effect.
I believe we are going to have higher gas prices. With the economy and any other reason they can dram up. It's something we will have to deal with.
This is the start of things to come. Everything is rising in cost. One way or another. We might pay the same price but for less product. Boxes and packaging is smaller. The prices ahve stayed the same and went up on these items. Just as gas will keep rising unfortunately.

Hi Moondancer! I heard this morning that gas in our area is to go up .25 cents per gallon, it is $3.99 per gallon now (lowest). We keep asking the question: Can our government do something about this? There are very intelligent scientist that could surly help us out now!

Gas is the same here. I think the government could do something if they wanted to. They just do not. I hear that several people years ago can up with a motor that ran on water. The government bought out those plans. They want to keep us dependant on the gas and oil. Look at how much taxes they get on it. And some of the people in politics are getting even more from it because of share they own or money they have taken to keep it the way it is. To swing their votes to the oil companies.
Now I think some of it may have come back to bite us in the bottom. Oil companies are not playing footsy any more. Yhey are just getting the money. They know they can.
Even if say 200, 000 or so people decided not to buy gas for a day, two days even a week. They laugh at us about this because what do people do before doing this? They go and fill up a day or two ahead of the the date picked to not feel up. People are not going to do without gas in the cars. The oil companies get their money one way or another.
Now if there was a couple of states or more that quit buying at the same time for more than a day or so and if you only get gas from the smaller outfits. then we would put a dent in the bottom dollar. Demand would be down for that time and they would lower the prices. Prices going up is because of the demand for gas. Not to mention weather and other things.
The government is not going to help us. Think about it most if not all of them get their gas free. We pay for it in our tax dollars. They have nothing to worry about. They fill up on us.

Thank you for your response Saizo6! Yep.... and just wanted to make my comment, to bring attention to what people can be doing out there to get you to give them free gas. I like to help people in need, but do not like to be taken!

I think the problem is that gas cost so much that people are pushing the limits with their vehicles. I also wouldn't put it past some people to try to score free gas by running out purposely. Desperate times mean desperate people.
