It is very honor and pleased to hold an Olympic Games for one country, So which means you have to improve to qulify the Olympic Games. The country may have to build some new stadiums or make some renovations, spend lots of money on world torch relay, the security and some other parts.
Meanwhile one country can gain money from the sponsors, the Olympic products, the tickets, etc. Most time it can also promote the tourism industry.
What do you think about it?

I don't think it's a waste of money. Instead it really promote the organizing country a lot. The stadiums and related buildings for this Olympic can still be utilize fully by its citizens. And definitely, that country can earn a lot of money for its travel industry and also the ticket selling!

I agree. A lot of people view it as unnecessary though... I enjoy watching the Olympics, I take pride in watching all the nations compete, I think it's great for the athletes, because they push each other harder, and harder, and then they break more records. I just hope everyone "plays fair" though.

some say it's a waste of effort, money and time. but the way i see it, it's a great way for people to know each other's cultures. it's one way for the participants to bring glory and pride to their countries.

I think it's the opposite of a waste of money. It promotes tourism and local economy of wherever the Games are. That's why countries compete to host them.

I think this is a tough problem.
Right, the countries must spend a lot of money to prepare well for the Olympics. They must build many roads, apartments and stadiums. They must buy much food and material for it as well. If give me the chance to judge whether one Olympic Games wastes money or not, I will see whether the citizens can benefit from it.
If the citizens can share the new roads, apartments and stadiums after the Olympics,if the citizens can share the country's development and improvement, if citizens can show out their happy feelings and their culture to the foreign countries, if the citizens learn to know the importance of sports and love to do sports...I think the Olympic Games can't be a waste of money.

maybe some way you're right, but i do really not on your side. simply, in my opinion, it is an honor for a country to hold an Olympic, and it is also able to connect the world closer

hosting an olympic event is really a tough one. i am sure that for now, my country doesn't have the capabalities to host one. we lack in infrastructures like stadiums, etc. & besides, our country is not that progressive to take care of the costs as well. we have been hosts for a sea games event before but sea games consists of south east asian countries only. when we're talking about hosting an event participated by almost every country in the world, i guess we're not yet ready.
