I am curious because windows vista will be out in january. I know i will have it because i build programs and build websites. I also fix computer so i have to know vista very well. I was wondering if people are gonna switch or stay with xp. Or you might not even use xp but might get vista. I think vista is not to much better then xp only difference is a huge new look.

DON'T switch to quickly, let them work the bugs out before you get it, about 6 months to a year. Every time windows has come out with a new window they have ALWAYS had problems with the programing, so the best thing to do is wait for awhile before you switch. It's just like this new IE7. I downloaded it and had lots of problems with programs, so I took it off and the problems stopped, so I'm going to wait six more months before I put it back in. They always say to wait a few months before getting the new stuff for your PC, let them get the bugs out of the system, just some friendly advice.

I personally am a little leary of it myself, until I see people having Good results from it. I am getting a Lap Top for Christmas, and some of them said you could get Vista on there for Free too, but I am waiting to see. Look at Windows ME and how bad it was. I feel I have right to be reserved until proven.

If you got a new laptop in January then it would most likely come with vista already installed.

I will remain with the XP for now.
Once I see more on vista I may do that one when I decide to get a new laptop. Just have to wait and see.

You would love linux unless you play allot of pc games and such. Linux is great and it it opensource also. There not attacked by allot of virus's either because it is not a popular as windows.

i think im gonna stay with XP, Vista might get a lot of Bugs and Errors... and Vista eats a lot of resources (will just make my PC slow)...

I am current running Windows Vista RC2 which I downloaded direct from the Microsoft site.
The program is still very problematic with limited support from the hardware and software providers in general. I am unable to install numerous programs that I would normally use and my CD writer is not recognised by Vista. I have given serious consideration to reverting to Windows XP, which does offer me all the features that I am likely to require. However, as Vista is being constantly updated I have stuck with it in the hope that the problems will be ironed out before the launch of the final release.
My current version was provided free by Microsoft, but if they expect me to purchase the operating system at launch they will certainly need to make a rapid improvement.

Yea there are allot of those issues i am sure they are gonna have to iron out soon. They took so long to make another OS it kinda put them in a hole. I hope it is better soon because i am gonna have to deal with vista allot.

Longhorn has now been turned into a sever. My opinion on vista is that is good but it also has allot of bugs in it. Also allot of things aren't compatible with it yet.

When it's released I'll probably buy a new computer that has it pre-installed.The ones I already own are all set up the way I like them and don't wanna mess with a good thing.Still I feel the need to give it a try,so I see computer number 6 in my future.
