I have been watching anime in Japanese with the subtitles for years now so I'm more comfortable with it. However, I don't really mind watching English dubbed versions. Either way works fine for me.

Agreed. I really don't mind. Some people say that the Japanese dubs are awesome, while the English dubs lack quality. I don't know the Japanese language, so I can't tell. It's all fine w/ me (just as long as the Japanese dub has english subtitles, hehe).

I prefer dubbed movies. Sometimes I get tired reading all those subtitles and you can't really get all the actions if you're reading what they are saying all the time.

I prefer the original works. I only need subs half of the time since I'm really adapting to the language itself. I have to agree that some of the english dubs aren't so great. A few of them I'm convinced they dragged some people off the street for voice acting, other times its done right (Second Renaissance/Animatrix).

i like to watch anime be it in any language but i would prefer to watch english dubbed cause that way i can enjoy the anime understanding the things hey are saying too.watching anime with sub titles is like not so cool because i have to read everytime something is said and that way its not much enjoyable.so i would prefer to watch anime in english

If I can get it in English first I'll opt for English (though I'll never turn down a fansub). Anime is beautiful, it is artistic (well, the good stuff, and who wants to watch the rubbish?). I don't want to have my eyes glued to the bottom of the screen while action and adventure are going on in marvelous techni-colour. Why would anyone want to have to concentrate on reading subs when they could be watching the pretty? It beggars the imagination. "But dubs are rubbish!" Yeah, SOME are. But not all of them, and the vast majority are very, very good. "But they don't sound right." They just sound different. And if you've read the manga first (or the book) I guarantee that the seiyu is more likely to sound wrong than the VA, simply because they will be speaking in a language you don't understand and cannot grasp the nuances of. Though the VA will probably sound wrong too (Chobits...). It really gets on my nerves when people say they will never watch a dub because "they're all rubbish". They are just being elitist snobs (at least in English, don't know about any others, though I hear the German and Spanish ones are great too). How can you say something is bad if you've not given it a chance. Every single dub should be judged on it's own merits and not on those of other animes. Of course, once I've seen an anime all the way through I'll watch it with the subs as well. Though I'm more likely to flip between the two, comparing, contrasting (and practising my ever-so poor Japanese).

I've seen both types, and I kinda lean towards Japanese with subtitles. I think it's because I like to read. Also maybe because it's easier for me to grasp what the original Japasese writers and voice actors were trying to convey with the dialogue. And I think Japanese sounds cool. :)
